Took the skin off the Ski Tique's engine cover expecting to find the original white gel and found only fiberglass! I should have looked at the diaries and noticed most of them have skins on them.
Anyone know if this was an option for that year or when they made the change?
I was extremely bummed, I love the look of the gelled engine cover.

Al, I might someday but I've got enough projects before this season to keep me busy. I saved the cover so I'll just re-apply and wait until next year when I build new seats and covers in original blue.
This spring I've gotta finish wet sanding, rebuild carb, new cutlass bearing, refinish platform and sand/paint the tandem.
Hopefully (probably not) before May 14th and the Muscatine boat show!

Ha, I did the same thing on my Tique. The gel box was standard through at least '77, though I think Ive seen later ones with it. The upholstery was an option... and they definitely didnt gel the upholstered boxes! I was bummed too... plus it cost me $500 to have the box recovered. Ouch.
