Went and looked at this boat for a friend today. It is I/O Chrysler powered. It's either a 318 or 383. It has Super Bee decals on the valve covers and air cleaner. The guy says only 500 were made I/O. He wanted $1K ,I told my friend only $500. He says the motor runs. Sorry about the engine pic.So what motor or can you guys tell?I only saw 1 pic of this boat on the web.All others are outboards.

Eric, it's all Chrysler motor and outdrive. Stamped Chrysler all over it. So,what would the engine be? Kap says a 360?
I'll get a better pic of the engine. Anything in particular I need to take it of so ya'll can tell? Where's Reid when you need him
Here's a couple of pics from another website.

I looked at one of these for the 71SN but couldn't get the guy to part with it. There is not a lot of information on them but from what I could find it is a high compression 340 rated at 250HP. Do a search under LM340. I do not believe that they have to high performance J-Heads as the cars did but the casting numbers are under the valve covers. The exterior is the same as the more common 318 and share the same parts including the cast aluminum oil pan, exhaust manifolds, and cooling system. These early Chryslers utilized a dual impeller raw water pump and do not have a block mounted vane pump. The early Super Bees where orange in lieu of blue with black valve covers. SuperBee decals should be on the flame arrester and valve covers.

Thats potentially a pretty sweet boat.. lots of work but a historically significant sport boat IMHO..
