I recently replaced the shaft and bushing. I carefully followed the alignment procedures gracefully givin in the forum (Thanks to all). I now have some vibration at low speeds. The vibration lessens as I gain speed. I am concerned about damaging the Transmission if I don't figure out where the vibration is coming from. I have not yet had the prop looked at. I plan on replacing in the next couple of weeks for a 4 blade. I was so concerend that I re-did the alignment procedure again. It seems to be tight with no gaps.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again,

I take it you didnt have such a vibration before aligning? How bad was it out? Perhaps the previous misalignment was holding the shaft tight to the strut bushing, causing uneven wear- which is now resulting in vibration. Do check the prop, as you mentioned.

Mark,
When you did the alignment, did you turn the shaft to check for a bent shaft forward of the strut? This is where you look for the gap between the coupling halves to follow as the shaft is rotated. Aft of the strut, you need to use a dial indicator on the prop taper.
How's the prop?

I replaced the shaft becasue it was bent. While I had the shaft out I replaced the bushing. The shaft turns freely. I did rotate the shaft as I was cheking the alignment. I have not yet re-done the prop. I assume this may be the culprit.

Suggesting lapping the prop to the shaft, and mark the shaft with a sharpie marker. Then add the keyway, if the prop doesn't seat where it was, the keyway is binding up.

Ok you installed a new prop shaft, did you re-use the old coupling or get a new one? if you used the old one did you have the face trued to the new shaft?

Sorry for the miss-posting.
The transmission is bad. Any suggestions regarding rebuilding or replacing. Are they hard to get rebuilt? expensive? Are replacements hard to find?
Thanks,

Why the new screen name???
Anyway, where are you located, what type of engine, type of transmission? I'm sure Eric will chime in...he's the resident transmission guy. Chances are, whatever is wrong with it, it's repairable.
