I received the following email from Zach's (zachjeepyj) mother Donna and was saddened by the loss. My prayers go out to his family.
"Back in the winter months, you and some others were directing my son, Zach on rebuilding his boat. Zach even posted pics for ya'll to see. He had spoken to me about how helpful you guys had been to him and he was very excited about completing the boat.
I am his mother and just wanted to let you know that Zach was in a car accident on May 7th, 2010. God's plans and my plans were not the same. Zach passed away at the scene of the wreck. I just wanted to thank you guys for the direction and encouragement you gave to Zach. He was a good Father, son and brother. He was our best friend and we miss him dearly.
With Thanks,
Donna - Zachjeepyj's Mom"

Thanks for sharing this with us Pete.
Donna,
Words can't express how sorry we are at the loss of your son. We appreciate you letting us know of his passing. We were all excited for him as he took on a big job of restoring an old boat and the first day he posted he was considered family. My condolences to your family especially his wife, and two young boys. He was obviously a stand up guy and a life taken too soon. Add me to the list of people praying for your family.....Tim

There is no good time for a family to suffer a loss. It is even more tragic when it is unsuspected and so sudden. It is a time for families, and friends to get together, console and support each other. CCF is like a big family and we share your loss.
I'd like to offer my condolences to Zach's family.

Stay close and let them never forget their Dad.
And also my condolences to you Donna. I imagine a son or daughter leaving us prematurely is just about the worst pain a parent could endure. It is just not supposed to work that way.

Thanks to all for your prayers.
A few weeks back, Zach and I were discussing the boat and he had shared the forum with me. Zach told me that you guys were willing to help him with any questions he had. He talked about what super guys you were. Zach's word were "Momma, these guys are willing to help me with anything I need to know". Thinking back over discussions we had, I remembered the forum and could not remember the website. I did a search on Google and somehow found it. I began to read the discussions. We did not discuss how he came upon the forum, but I do know he was honored that you took time to direct him in the restoration. I joined the site due to the fact I wanted to thank everyone.
And yes, Peter, I have conquered many things along the path of life. This is one that seems at this time will be unconquerable. Alot of pain and we are praying continuously for strength. Somehow communicating with CCF family is helping me. I knew how important this rebuild was to him.
Zach has two sons, Tyson (6) and Landon (2) whom he loved dearly and was a very dedicated dad. He was a very hard worker and had accomplished much for his age. Zach also has a younger brother, Tyler who is 15. Tyler helped Zach at his granite shop periodically in the afternoons after school. Zach and Tyler had many plans for the summer as to Tyler helping Zach in his granite shop and spending days on the lake in the finished Natique.
If you would like you can visit www.kilgroefuneralhome.com. There are photos posted there of Zach throughout his life.
Again Many Thanks and God bless.
Donna

We have had that trust set up especially for Tyson and Landon's needs. It may be possible to open an account that would be specifically for the rebuild of the boat. Then we would have to locate people who can do the rebuild. Oh, Zach would love that!!!

Sorry to hear about this CCfan member Zach's untimely death. I did not know him, but just reading the thread where all these great people on this site helped him with their advice for his boat, has touched my heart. To his family, I pray that God will give you comfort and peace through this time of sadness. To the members of this site, thanks for being such a caring group. To help with advising people, to praying and helping people in need. My heart is deeply touched. May God Bless this family and this CCFan group of people.

As you guys are aware, my son, Zach passed away on May 7th of this year. Our family has made the decision we are unable to complete the project of rebuilding the boat. Much thought and consideration has been put into this decision. We are going to list the boat for sale. The boat is as shown in the pictures Zach put on this site. I want to stay within the guidelines of listing the boat on this site. There is a lien on the boat with a local bank and the payments are current. Any suggestions in listing the boat is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Donna

Hi Donna,
first, My condolances on your loss.... There really are no words to express sorrow for the pain and sorrow you've dealt with over the past few months. There is a section on this site where boats can be listed for sale, that might be the best place to start. Since there is a lien on the boat, that will have to go through the estate, if it hasn't already. If you haven't dealt with the lien holder, it is highly likely that you can present the boat as a "complete project", and settle the loan balance for a small percentage of what is owed.... If the bank is unwilling to work with you on the balance, it might be financially best to just let it go back to the bank. If you're not a co-signer on the loan, this won't impact you at all except for the sentimental portions. I would venture that the boat is worth 1000-2000 depending on how far into the repair Zach was prior to his passing, and overall condition of the major components of the boats. Something to think about is that the major structure of the boat has been removed, so structurally it may take some work to get it in a condition that would be safe to move it down the road.
There are several guys on this site that would be capable of taking on a project of this magnitude, so in honor of Zach's memory, I'd love to see it be sold here.
Blessings on your journey
Kris

Not sure how I missed this thread or his original rebuild thread. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I pray everything works itself out regarding the boat. If I could take it on, I'd buy the boat and rebuild it in his memory. If anyone decides to do it and wants some help, I'd be glad to pitch in.
