My neighbor with the red & white 79 needs a couple of knobs for his front vents. I told him I'd at least try to get some info for him.
Has anyone crossed these with something from McMaster or know of another source? Thanks

Let me see if I can find something to match the ones I have on my 78. I think even the ACE hardware might have ones in their drawers.

I went to Ace hardware today.
I took one of my original vent knobs in, and found out that Hillman makes the exact knobs.
They are called "small clamping knobs" and come in box 55381. These are the little drawers that you pull out.
In this box is 2 part numbers that would work. both are 8-32 and the first is 55382A, and the second is 55383B. Both are exactly the same as mine, but they are shiny black plastic where mine is now dull black plastic. perhaps these were shiny when new, but in any case, it is a 100% fit, and looks nearly identical.
Both numbers are like $2.45 a piece.

Thanks, part #'s and all! I'll pass that on to him.
