so basically after my wonderful fuel filter breakdown i decided to pull the carb apart clean and rebuild. I have never really had a strong boat like others. It had a hick up right out of the hole. so it never was strong. I have rode behind other boats and they can pull arms off people when pulling skiers. pulling the carb apart i replaced the power valve and made sure both floats where parallel to the housing when held upside down. injectors cleaned, but i am still having isssues. I don't have the hick up anymore but it is slugish out of the hole. from 20mphs and up it is strong, but it is slugish from 0-10 or so. Its not bad just i know the boat can do more and i can't figure it out for the life of me..
any help would be great..

Have you adjusted the accelerator pump? Does it start a nice spray even between both barrels as soon as the throttle is touched?

Accelerator pump stroke nor cam need adjustment if Holley parts are used. This is a DFW screw..........
What power valve did you install?
New PCM 4160 Holley carbs come with a 2.5
All kits bought from PCM come with the same
Probably not the PV that you installed,6.5 or 7.5 possibly
Do a plug check, easy way to observe fuel mixture.
Black is not GOOD
Chocolate Brown = correct
Blistered or very clean= too lean

Have you pulled a plug or two for a visual check ?These readings can tell you a lot about your motor and its condition internally....
Slow cam timing,i.e.timing chain wear, will give some of the same symptoms you describe.

That is correct for points type ignition.
Electronic ignition with a good coil will allow a wider gap.......
