Hey Guys:
I'm trying to find two 351w Ford Commander riser gaskets (not manifold gaskets). These are the round gaskets located at the rear of the commander manifold that have 4 bolt holes (5/16's) and 1 hole (about 2 in) in the middle for the exhaust.
The gasket on the left manifold failed letting water into the number 8 cylinder causing a nasty backfire and some rough running. I initially thought it was the damper plate. I pulled the tranny and checked everything out and it looked ok. That's when I found a little bit of water trickling out from the number 8 where the manifold attaches to the block. The number 8 plug was also fowled and soaked with water. Not Good. Oil in the block looks great.
I've got a message into Discount Inboard Marine but haven't heard back from them.
I'm trying to get them by this weekend. The family has a trip planned next Tuesday to Banks Lake in Eastern Washington. I may end of making a pair of gaskets from some sheet material.
Thanks so much
Doug

Doug,
Your best bet is to cut them yourself. David (vondy) in his "SOS" thread is going through this with his H/M manifolds.

if there is a hose going from the manifold to the riser than all you need is high temp RTV sealent.

There is a hose. I guess the water enters the commander manifold thru a nipple, runs around inside the manifold to cool the exhaust, then back out a hose near the front, and then connects to an 45 degree elbow (?riser) at the back, and then out thru the mufflers.
I I thought about a bead of RTV, but I think I'll end up cutting a couple of gaskets our of some good gasket material.
Thanks
