What another great reunion!!! This time the weather even cooperated!!

My hat's off to Keith again as well as Dave who made it all possible.

I had the opportunity of meeting some new faces in the CCfan family - always a pleasure!

Regarding the speed runs, Joe might have had a better shot at topping out Reid if he didn't need to use the fire extinguisher on his engine this year!!

Roger,
Thank you for coming all the way over and joining us. I can't say enough how much of a pleasure it was meeting you and talking with you. It was without a doubt a highlight of the weekend. We'll, I'm sure keep in touch via the site if nothing else. I hope the trip back will be uneventful and you'll be able to get to you daughters graduation in time plus enjoy it.

Thanks again for coming.
Sincerity, Pete

Now, as far as Kristof goes... Yes Kristof, the same is true for you! Now, I know why I can't get a hold of Billy - it just accorded to me, he and Karen are picking you up at the airport. I hope you got some rest on the airplane trip since you certainly pushed the GL weekend to the "limit"!    Tell me something - if you had brought Chantal with you, do you think you would have done anything different in the weekend??

EDIT: Roger,
That UK brew you snuck into the Goose for me last night was truly fantastic. I love heavy dark rice beers. Very few are up to that taste we get here in the states. Thanks!!

Ok, So our camera broke, so the only shots I have are from my Droid, and I only risked that for a few quick shots when we arrived. Unfortunately, they are selfishly mostly of Dad's 64. I apologize up front for that. These are all from around Noon on Saturday.

Here you can see Dad's 64, Alan's 81 Ski (would that be a "grandson"), Pete's Atom (that would be an "uncle"), and bunch more generations all represented...

I have been waiting to get a shot of mine and Dad's both on the water!

The last one is after taking the 64 out, we only kept it on the water for a little while. Easy clean up thanks to following RJ's recommendation with the Collinite (before the reunion) and Babe's.

Sorry thats all I got... I hope there are a lot more pictures out there!

Hey Guys,
Yesterday was absolutely fantastic! We had 3.5 hrs of skiing in before 10:00 am! By the end of the day we had put 8.5 hrs. on the Ski Nautique 200. Everyone's boats looked great, especially out in the sun, in the warm water of the sandbar.

Just got home. Worked on this montage while on the plane. Too beat to do much more right now but will post more pix soon.

We had a great time. Couple highlights:

- Driving and skiing the SN 200, thanks Don. BEAUTIFUL boat in person.
- Driving Alan's INSANELY fast 81, causing involuntary ear-to-ear grins
- Staying at the camp ground, which worked out really well
- Chatting with everybody
- Teaching OverMyHead's son Austin to barefoot
- The kids getting to jump around on the Leinen's inflatable bouncy-house thing, which was amazing.
- The weather

And so much more. Great talking to everybody and seeing all the families again. I didn't take any pics this year so I'm looking forward to seeing what others captured.

The 64 is now on its way home back to IA. Dad had a million questions. I really appreciate all the interest everyone shows. Hopefully he and Mom will be back next year.

Thanks also to Keith and Moj and everyone else who helps pull this together. It is a ton of fun and a truly unique experience and opportunity to bring such a diverse group of people together. Its done in a professional and extremely safe way. A testament to all that attend!

Love the pics, keep them coming, Erin who is 7 will love the picture above. It was the first time out with the bar on the skis removed. Great picture, didn't even know you snapped it. Thanks!

Keith, thanks for the additional ones of Erin. It was so much fun to watch her tearing across the wakes with new found freedom, the week before she was working so hard, but the bar was inhibiting her.

Have to Laugh about her droopy drawers in the last shot, my wife was so mad when we got back from skiing and saw she was wearing her older sisters suit. Now I see why...

Chris,
Not you too working me over!!

Here's the story. First year: I really didn't know what was going on and didn't put my trunks on. We really don't get much of a "sandbar" group up north on the water. Not too many places to do it ether. Second and third year: Just too damn cold!! (must be my age getting to me? But, all I remember of last year was peoples teeth chattering who did brave jumping in!!

BTW, it was one of the first questions my wife asked me!

Considering the warm water and air temps, those are some impressive numbers! I cant say that Im surprised by the outcome though. Did anyone keep track of the "honorable mentions"? I figured Jim's Python and Gary's '73 would have been in the mix as well.

Im very jealous, sounds like a great time was had by all. I keep hearing stories of 90 degree temps, but Ill believe it when I see it- better get some nice weather on order for next year too, Dave.

Pete, glad you decided to venture into the water. I see that it has to be in the '90's to get you out of your turtleneck... how warm does it have to be before you switch to a short sleeve shirt?

Real funny Tim!! Even after the turtleneck comment, I will honestly say you were missed.

Tim, I think Kristof had your shirt on this week end.

Thanks for the footing pics Keith did you get some of the spectacular falls?

The food was great Thursday night. The people that were there for Thursday night were all fantastic to talk to. Friday was another nice day on the water and at the boat show. Saturday morning came early but was worth getting up for. The sandbar, well you just had to be there to take it all in. The only thing that comes to mind to cover the gathering at the sandbar is, Priceless.

Reid thanks again for letting me ride/drive the Mustang!

After a small tire issue we made it the rest of the way home safe and event free.

Special thanks to Keith, Dave, Alan, Steve, and all the others that worked behind the scenes to help pull this event off. We can not thank you guys enough.

Certainly was an unexpected highlight for us. Thank you guys so much. Joel, you are a natural instructor. We did not expect to do more than some boarding behind our own boat. I will try to post the video link. I think my son has it on utube.

It was great to meet everyone, and say thanks in person for all the great help I have recieved from this site. Thanks Allen for the tune up help and most of all thank you keith for this wonderful monster that you created.

Dave,
The same is true with having the pleasure of meeting yourself. It's funny we talk all the time on site but then finally get to see/meet the face on the other end of the computer!!!
It's happened to me lots over the last 4 years with face to face meetings of the CCfan family.

Some however were a disappointment like meeting CQ for the first time.

Joe,
I understand the problem. It's hard to use a camera and a fire extinguisher at the same time.

I'm sure glad it wasn't worse than it was.

Joe what happened in the speed runs to need the fire extinguisher? I hope not to much damage was done to that sweet engine. I would have had you at a even money bet to hit that magical 60 mph this year.

It sure looks a lot warmer in this years pictures. People are actually in the water without jumpers or heater shirts.

Looks like I missed a great time with some great people and even better weather. I can't wait to here more stories of the weekend other than JoeinNY's need for a fire extinguisher? There has got to be a Kristof or quinner story somewhere. Thanks for pictures and keep them coming. Glad to hear a fun weekend was had by all and Barney didn't seem to cause any trouble.

Keith - thanks for putting together another great reunion.

Kristof, it was great to meet you. Thanks for making the long trip and I hope you are having a great time with Billy and Karen.

It's hard to say which was more fun, riding in Pete's Atom, riding with Steve in his Dad's '64, or driving the 200, but I feel very fortunate to be able to experience all of these!

Can't wait for next year.

The fire extinguisher didn't come out during the speed runs, it was brought out as a result of an ingnition upon a restart sat. morning. A gas line leak provided the fuel, enough to pop the engine cover up a couple inches before leaving the gas film on the bilge water on fire. After removing the passengers it was dealt with by unloading the fire extinguisher, and believe me there was no regard to keeping the engine clean I splattered that sucker through the crack I pulled up the engine cover. For good measure I also dumped the fat sacks in the bilge after it was apparently out. None of this effected the speed runs or even required a tow back... except maybe that heading back into town to purchase of a new fire extinquisher had me a little late to the speed runs and by my turn barney had indeed shut us down out front between the sandbars.

Lessons learned.. don't futz with your carb after 7 hours of sleep in two days, you might not remember to retighten all the fittings you pulled on in the process. (I should have questioned my overall state of mind immediately when I noticed I put the distributor cap on without replacing the rotor). The joints you checked for leaks (but never physically retightened) might need to be rechecked for leaks after a day of pounding on the waves (and the road construction leading to the bayview). You can't run the blower too much and a working fire extinguisher within arms reach can be worth it's weight in gold.

As for Kristof/Quinner stories.. this is a family site and this was as usual a great family event as for what happened after the kids were asleep.. we all sat around a campfire and roasted smore's of course (I guess we could have sat around my bilge)...

Barney? Huh! Quinner had his number late in the event. He starts idling towards us and CQ cranks up 1500 Jigawatts of Clapton's "I Shot the Sheriff", and Barney promptly turned and went the other way.   This was also after he came up to Moj's boat, which was sporting a large Black Hawks 2010 Championship flag, to hassle him because he mistakening thought the flag was upside down?? But Moj corrected him and he left without incident, just embarrassment. Barney did stop 800Wildcat (I was told that's who it was)in a screaming church camp 350 powered SkiTique for supposedly going within 100 feet of an anchored pontoon, which i felt was actually parked too close to an obvious professional boat racing venue, so who was REALLY at fault? But only a warning was issued and the Tique did manage to hit 50mph on the GPS.

It was probably the great Ale that was brewed in the U.S.A. Somebody musta tossed him a Old Milwakee. That'd make anybody start praying to the porcelin Gods.

Reid, why does Barney and CQ being mentioned in the same sentence NOT surprise me.

Wonder how Kristof is handling that Loosiana coffee?

Well as for the Kristof and CQ stories... JBear asked me on the phone after CQ called him and handed his phone over to me: "You are alone in a car with Chris Quinner??? Are you out of your mind???"
Next day I mentionned to CQ somewhere: "Chris, you are a seriously deranged person... But then again, it takes one to know one..."

It was an absolutely fantastic weekend!!! I loved every minute of it.
But next time I'll stick to beer at the Goose Blind, since I apparently do not handle shot ski's that well... Sorry for that guys and gals...

Keith, thanks for so many things man, amongst which the great ski lesson!!

Lots more to tell, but I need some time first to adjust to the different country I'm in know

What a great time for my 1st GL visit. The only downside was that I didn't plan enough time for the trip. There was just way too much for this guy to cram into a day and a half. CC overload. Next year it'll be Thurs-Mon for sure. This has been my first taste of real comradeship since leaving the Marines in '04. Thank you all, with a special thanks to Quinner, Kristof, and Scott/Amie.

Seb,
The way I understand the scenario, is Kristof convinced Chantal to stay behind so she could work at the sandwich shop and make some money to pay for his trip. Now personally, I feel kristof had to do do lots of talking to her!!! Most likely so he could come over and do some vacation time/wildness on his own!!     He did BTW live up to the wildness aspect!! It was like letting a wild animal out of a cage. No matter what the scenario was, it was absolutely fantastic meeting him. I was happy to find out that the sandwich shop she opened up is doing great. It's sort of a Subway and burger shop combined - hot burgers and cold cut sandwiches. (I wish she posted on site - we might get her "side of the story" !!!

I don't want to forget Roger. He and I, I feel really got together great due to our woodworking backgrounds. Fantastic person to talk too!! I hope he'll post soon after he gets done with a graduation. he was flying back directly to go to his daughter's graduation - I think with no sleep with the exception of what he got on the plane!!!

Hi Pete, thanks for your kind words in this thread and the other, It was a honor to meet you and all the guys, your boat is one of a kind which has to be seen, as photo's don't do it justice, great to talk about woodwork and how its done in the USA.

Had a good trip back all on time, even had my case repacked by the US Gov must have set off alarm bells with all the steel parts and bottles of liquid in it, I must say they repack far better than me.

Your right had little sleep from Sat through to Mon night but it worked out as I was too tired to care what my ex wife and surprise guest her mother said in the car,but the end result was my pay off a proud Dad,

Roger,

The pleasure was all ours in helping England learn how to party USA style. It was great meeting you and Kristoff. Congrats on your daughter's graduation. I have to agree with Pete, your X must be very actractive.

I also want to thank everyone that made this weekend possible. I had a blast. The Thursday night cookout was great. I also want to think Reid, Rodney and Jerry for the transportation, boat rides and housing. The BBC was well represented. I also want to thank Chris Quinner for the multiple nights of spooning. Heck, even Hollywood ( AKA: Hardly Wood) joined in on the spooning action Sunday night. We all three shared a camper. I had to sleep on my back for four nights. It adds new meaning to making sure you have your plug in.

Thanks again everyone.

Joe that looked insane no wonder you could not get to 60mph you have to be in the water for the prop to bite.

I feel the water conditions were actually worse. With the good weather, there were lots of boats out producing wake chop comming at you from all directions. At least with wind produced waves there is consistency.

We made it home without any trouble. I have been so busy with the kids birthday parties and installing a 27' above ground swimming pool that I haven't had a chance to post.
We had a great time. The kids are already looking forward to going again next year, they had a great time and met so many new friends. Paula is looking forward to making the trip back to Green Lake too (since she didn't spot any bears ) It was great seeing old friends and seeing new faces. A big thanks to everyone who puts so much into this event. We can't wait to do it again next year!
