It will go back and forth on the dial. I have learned that the real value is about the middle of it's range. Is this the sender unit or just a bad guage? Not really a big problem but I do like for everything to be working correctly. It should be near zero. Check for gound continuity between the engine block ang gas tank. Clean all connections including the sender mounting screws.
