Is anyone on the East Coast prepairng for the possibilty of Earl hitting us. Being so close to labor Day weekend when my lift and most of my docks come out anyway I'm thinking of pulling stuff out a few days early.
One suggestion I do have is that those with lifts take off the canopy especially if you are pulling the boat out for the storm. Lifts with a canopy and no boat really dislike heavy winds.

Yep - I live just inland of Cape Hatteras on the Pamlico Sound I'll be pre-flighting the gen set after work and filling everything we own with fuel, gas, diesel, propane. Earl has a lot of fwd. speed and thats a good thing, he should be throwing everything around Thursday nite / Friday morning as a cat 3.

My homeowners just jumped 12% last month, my insurance company needs a hurricane. They told me it's because we're in a high risk area. We haven't had anything really since Fran and Floyd. A friend of mine that works for another company told me that some inland companies were backing out on buying out policies, that's why they're raising prices. In 10 years, my insurance is a little over double what it used to be (before the 12% increase). Now the talk is that the insurance companies are wanting to start a $3,000 deductible just for wind damage.

Prayers go out from me, as well. I hope none of the CCF family has any issues.

Good luck to all on the east coast. Fuel up everything, it never hurts.
Removing the canopies is one of the best things to do. I've seen many hoists head down the lake in winds no where near what Earl might be packing.

Our weather has little to do with what Earl is throwing out, but I'll enjoy the low 60's at U of M stadium Saturday afternoon (your neck of the woods).

Actualy Steve, your weather is going to determine whether Earl goes east of most of us or more directly over us. They seem to be favoring a more eastern path but we could still see some nasty wind and the coast will see some big waves. Or your system stalls and we get clobbered. At least hurricanes waited until after the reunion.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to play weather guru. What I meant was that this freakin cold, Labor Day weekend weather is coming in from the west on it's own. Hopefully it will head east (great name for a band) with some power, and help you Easterners out.

The wind is pickin up, the eye is going to pass 100 mi on so off shore about 3am. If the roof stay's on and the yard isn't to bad at day light - we're goin to the lake!
P.S. Jim Cantory may be a ok guy - but - everytime he comes around there's trouble.
