That's some pretty nice wood work there. Beats carpet for sure. You going to put another seat in the rear? That swim platform is quite nice.

Pete's going to have a fit

Get ready because you're going to take some heat for that here BUT I like the floor. Not sure it's in everyone's taste but nice work just the same.

Don't care for the rear seat, looks a bit out of place. Again nice work, keep up with the photos.

Wow, i think i just wet myself. Well done.
Would have left the wood off the engine box, don't concur with choice of carburation, seats look too euro for me, location of electrics on engine is a little distracting...else very good show.

Jonas, Like your take on the rebuild, I see you use no glass and gone for a glue in stringer system as in modern boats fill us in on the type of glue you used.
Floor looks great well done.

the fourth seat is made out of cushions so that it can be packed away.

Thank you
The most of the work i did at my workplace my boss was kind to let me use the place after hours...

Uk1979
I used a autosealer for sheetmetal to bed the stringers in and then I used polyester glas over that.
So everything is glassed in.

Awesome, Is the engine stock? Is it fuel Injected? I have a 351W and am thinking of adding fuel injection. What do you think?

Don
The engine is not stock i have put some mods on.
I have been thinking on that injection ass well, but I am going the supercharged way instead you will get more hp for less money...

I am doing 82 km/h with the current setup but I am going for 100 some day...

Nice I use my boat for fishing and do a lot of trolling so I was think MPFI may be a good option for me. I would like to get the top speed up by another 5mph. When I lived in CA I had a 19' Donzi clasic with a fuel injecter corvet engine and did 73mph but started to chine walk at that speed so pumping it up more wasn't an option.

Tank's...
The stringers are made out of marine grade plywood.

Posted By: 8122pbrainard

Jonas,
I won't comment on your choice to go with a non original rebuild as it's not my style but will say you workmanship is superb.

However, I do want to warn others who may look at your method of using plywood for the stringers. From a structural standpoint it's a weak flawed method especially without a glass covering. The fiberglass adds considerable strength to the stringer system. As a example, when people go to composites, extra glass is used to make up for the composite not having the same flexural modulus strength as the original Doug Fir.

Next is even tough you used marine grade ply which is meant for strutural applications, it is weaker than a solid especially due to you splicing shorter lengths together for the length needed. You basically have a 3/4" thick plywood stringer at the splice plus I didn't even see any butt blocking that would transmit the load around the splices.

Now the real problem with ply - Every other layer of veneer (cross banding) the grain of the wood is going the wrong direction needed for the stress applied to the stringers. Keep a very close eye on your rebuild. I feel you will have problems with it. Roughly, I'd say you're lucky if you have 1/4 the strength of the original solid Fir stringers.

BTW, we do have one member who couldn't find Doug Fir in his area that is currently doing a stringer job with LVL structural ply. This is a excellent choice as this material is designed for door/window headers and support beams and every layer of veneer has the grain of the wood running the length of the member.

I'd also like to ask why you put the vents in the dog house (engine hatch)?

Your boat is Art! I do have a question thou. The engine and tranmission looks like it's lag bolted down throu the end grain of the laminated plywood stringers ?

Tanks for the comment Pete

I'v been waiting to hear from you...

I have a few things to add...

The stringers are glassed over I forgot to take pic's of all of the glas process. They have 4 layers in the front and 3 in the back (from the engine and back).
The pic's i have off the glassed in stringers are taken half way done.

My main stringers are made 34 mm. taller than original to make the storage room in front of engine bigger. this gives some extra strengt to make up for some the strengt lost in ply. They are also 3 mm wider.

All of this said i know that i probaly don't have the same strengt as the many other rebuilds here.

The vents in the doghouse are for ventilating the engine i dont have tubes running under the floor.

The gray area in the foto is for storage and the black tube it for wire.

It is a threaded rod wiht a T at the end set in epoxy in the stringer.
The mounts are held by nuts. all stainless steel.

Jonas,
Got it now and yes, you're better off than I originally thought. I'm glad to hear that the ply was glassed.

What did you use for foam? Is it out of a aerosol can?

So it's a new year and i'm starting on some of the projects on the boat...

I have a list of:
1 new dashboard
2 make a plate to cover the gas tank
3 install led light's under the swimplatform and under the sides on the inside of the boat.
4 put on a tower...

I hope to get some of this done before the season start.

I startet on the dash install this week...

I made the new dash out of teak last week so now it's down to getting it to fit.

Test fitting

Startet on casting the rise to make space for the gauges...

I see the case of coke, but you are suppose to use a case of beer as dead weight. Please reconsider the tower idea. I love the floor in your boat.

Made some progress today.

I startet out with 7 layers of glass and then bondo for the rest of the shape.
The bondo is not the regular it's made to bond to fiberglass and have fibers in it.

first layer

I put the dash in to make the curves fit

second layer

Donald:
I'm not sure what to do with the tower yet. I like the idea of having the space for speakers, lights, wakeboard's and having a good place to mount the rope. but I also like the clean look of not having the tower...

And my beer is not a good deadwight because it's not in the case long anough

Well the trailer is an brenderup from 2009.

All the welds are tig and weldet all the way round to prevent rust from the salty waters i go in...

I got it paintet at an local industrial painter we use at work. He did it reel good for little money.

I'm on the lookout for an elektric winch for it but I cant seam to find one in all stainles for a reasonable price.

I also have to figure out a way to get some 5 bolt mercedes weels on to the 4 bolt hubs so that they match the ones on the car.

The vinyl on the boat was designed by my brother cut by a local sign shop and I stuck them on...

I made a panel to cover the gas tank area.

Then some more bling bling...

I got a hold of these led lights so i routet a groove in the side panels and viola!

Then I installed a sissy handle for the passenger side because i got tired of people falling all over the place when i'm driving

Got the better half involved to she's making some nice leather for the steering wheel.

Was out on the water yesterday took some more photos and some film to...

It was a great day out but no skiing or boarding because I have no where to pull from! I'll have to get startet on either a tower or a tall pylon with board racks.

It's not something that people notice when installed so it's good that some one other than me got some pleasure out of it
