Our new to us '02 S/N 196 is in great shape, but has too much play in the steering, especially noticeable when driving through the course. Everything seems fine with the rudder/cable linkage, and it appears to be a problem with either the rack or the cable.

I've worked on other rotary style steering systems. and most problems are solved with a new cable. How can I tell if the rack is ok or the cable needs to be replaced? The boat only has 200hrs on it, and the cable isn't tight or anything, but I can't find any way to adjust the rack on it.

Looking for ideas before I just start replacing stuff.

Jay
