Sorry for the thread for sale jack previously on the general discussion stuff.

Dad bought a 2000 Sport 75th anniversary. Will the props we have on the '90 all fit the new one? I'm almost positive they will. But just wanted to be sure...Not sure what tranny is in the 2000. It does have the GT40 though so one of you guys knows I'm sure.

We have an ACME 654 and a 1442, and the stock 14X16 which will stay with the '90 where ever it goes...possibly to a storage shed so we don't have to part with it? :D

Has that been confirmed? The TSC (1997+) SN got a shallower shaft angle that decreased the prop clearance. It was at this time that CC went from 14" diameter props to 13", and now 12.5" Acmes. Im not certain the 13.25" 1442 would fit on a newer boat. Try it and let us know!

Good point Tim....

I don't think it will, but I'll see what kind of clearance we have.

What's our vector Victor?

2000 Sport Nautique 75th Anniversary. Hour meter doesn't work, 1 owner used it 12 times. He estimates less than 50hrs of use.

Im guessing the hour meter probably has something to do with the faulty digital gauges offered in 2000?

Of course. The gauges were fixed once by the dealer (believe it was a dealer promo)

How will we go about getting nice gauges in this? Dad may not go for the less than desirable ever popular 2000 Nautique gauges...

Faria guages are the replacement. Does the boat have perfect pass on it already? If the boat doesn't alreadys have a paddle wheel, one will need to be installed for the replacement guages to work.

Not exactly. The originals had black rings.

Give it some time, those will likely fail as well. I looks like you keep that boat very dry which is the best way to try to prolong the life of those digital gauges.

I don't know if it is a good idea or not. But, since Airguide quit producing the speedo's in about 2001, I would guess that's the main reason that people are not installing them.

The other obvious alternative is to throw a GPS speedo in there, and who knows...maybe these in the new sport work very well.

I just don't see how they're that practical for water skiing. Can you read the dial very well in sunlight? Or at all? I've never seen these in person and am very curious as to how awful they really are.......

You can read the digital gauges fine. When they are working, they work just fine. The issue is with the lights in the gauges, not the gauges themselves. Numbers, or parts of numbers disappear. The gauges are working, but if they don't display the numbers they become worthless.

The Faria gauges work fine as a replacement. Some guys on planetnautique have been replacing them with another brand (I don't recall which brand) that seems to work fine as well.

So, usually, if the gauges are displaying speed accurately, they are clearly visible during the day?

Some guys are replacing the digital Teleflex gauges with analog Teleflex gauges. The analog Teleflex gauges use the pitots and you have run new lines from the back up to the gauges. I believe the Teleflex gauges cost a little more than the Faria gauges.

You could always replace the Teleflex speedo with PerfectPass and replace the tach with the Faria.

Mike and Tim, back to the prop question. So I have the ACME 422 on my 98 Sport (same hull as Mike's folks) and per a separate conversation Tim and I are having, their is 1.5" clearance between the 12.5" ACME 422 and the hull. So, Tim I think you thought with that clearance you could get a 13.25" wheel on there and not have any issues.

I must be slipping- I dont recall you mentioning that. If that is in fact the case, then there should be enough clearance to run the 13.25" prop on that hull. I think it would be a good match to the boat's power and size... hope one of you guys try it before too long.

MDV, if your '90 is in storage then does that mean you wouldnt dig it out if it sells on ebay? Any reason you havent listed it here?

-------------

Posted By: mdvalant

We may dig it out if the sellers want it before spring. Other wise we will store it till spring and give it to them then.

I listed it here, but the admins are out on vacay or something. Saw a note saying nothing will get updated for a couple weeks so yea...it's in limbo. The more we talk about it, the less we want to sell it. I will end up buying it from dad I'm sure. I have no problem with that.

Tim, your not slipping. I just got around to measuring it on Sunday and I have not had a chance to get back to you on the email. I also did not have time to swap to the old 422 before I winterized. As Mike said gonna have to wait until next spring.

Mike, I may haul my Sport down to Bellevue in the early spring to try your wheel before I purchase one - if you'd be up for that. Be some good pictures putting our two Sports together... That new (2U) one is a beauty!

Steve,

By wheel do you mean propeller? Sorry, not sure if I've heard it called that before but via process of elimination that's what I came up with Come down anytime in the spring, we will be kickin it early next year!!!

We're very excited about the boat. The only issue we see is that it's not red...we've always loved red and black (like yours and our 90) Dad has a beautiful 95 silverado ext cab with a red topper and only 45k miles on it to match the 90...

The only vehicle matching this new boat is my new explorer my fiance and I own. :) Ironically enough...it matches all too well. hehe

I have not, would love to go, 62Wood has been trying to get me to bring the 64 down, but its so tough to get away with the kids. If I had known they had Hydro's coming... The above boat was my Uncle's 5.0l, was points champion in the early 90's, he has raced all the classes including Unlimited where he piloted an old Miss Budweiser Hull with twin Rolls Royce engines.

Nope it's a 5.0 litre that he also ran in the 6.0 litre class. These days he is racing COR (Classic Outboard Racing) classes. Running an intimidator tunnel hull with 2.5 Mercs. They don't want to go faster then 85 mph, but hey he is 75 years old, these days. They run out your way down in Southern CA, a lot in San Diego. Also he helps set up and races in the Parker 300 Enduro at he Blue Water Resort and Casino.

I think the 5.0's replaced the old 280- class, not positive. I have a friend who is now 80 and still climbs into his 2.5 liter on occasion. Typically his Typically his son drives, but sometimes he just can't resist.

Mike when you pick it up could you take some pictures of your trailer for me?

I picked up a 98 Sport with the same colour scheme as yours. It also has a tandem axle DHM trailer. I will need to make the trailer comply with Australian design rules. Can you get pictures of tow hitch and the swing away draw bar, side step attachment to trailer and guards.

I have always liked that colour scheme. Have been thinking about upgrading my SUV may have to get a black one now. Trouble is with our hot dry summers black cars make good ovens.

Hey Mark,

I finally figured out why the bow stop on the new trailer has a pin in the bottom for it to pivot forward. It only goes forward off the nose of the boat about 2 feet and then sits there. Couldn't figure out why that would do that...

THEN we put the cover on the boat. I believe that is for allowing room between the nose of the boat and bow stop to enable someone to put the cover over the nose of the boat. Worked PERFECTLY. Anyone else have anything like this?

Oh we took it for a ride!!! Runs like a dang dream...had no Tach or Speedo...but the motor ran beautifully. Love how it handles too, not too awful for a larger boat. My buddy had a 95 sport that felt bigger when driving...not sure why though.

EDIT: possibly because of the TSC?

I need to check out your keel roller some time. Need to add one to the snob trailer but I was thinking I would but the 6" roller on it instead of a V-roller like you have. Thought it would give me a wider base and maybe not mark up the hull.

Mike, another question about the DHM trailer under your 2000 Sport. Could you check if the guards and steps are bolted or welded to the main trailer frame.

Alright, I think everything you ask of is welded to one another. Not many bolts on that thing at all...
