shrinkwrapping a boat yesterday, my hook type box knife got hung up on the plastic, pulled a little harder and yep looked at my pants and noticed some blood and a tear....FCK!!!!! like Bret Favre, long and deep.
it was bad enough that the nurses couldnt even look. 14 staples, about 3/4 of an inch deep, 6"
long. on my thigh btw

A kid at work did that last winter. I didn't see it personally, but I guess a few of the others in back were getting lightheaded. It didn't even want to bleed for a a while it was so bad.

Eric,
Sorry about your accident. I thought you might get a kick out of my last trip to the E.R.... Sunday afternoon 4P.M. Labor Day weekend we have guests visiting us at our lake home. I have two Austrailian Shepards and one doesn't like exitment (Like me jumping off the dock)
I thought I was faster than he and made a leap only to get bitten on the back of the leg by my own dog. It was bleeding like a GUNSHOT wound.
Soooo, I have friends sitting on my deck eating steaks and drinking beer and I am sitting alone at the emergency room... Tetnus and stiches.

Wow, clean and deep. Not so sure about those staples. I realize that they are the current technology, but I guess in a situation like this, I am like Pete...Keep it original and give me some old fashioned stitches. Looks like those suckers could get caught on something and rip out. Yuck. Anyway, hope your feeling ok and back on the job....that was a nasty cut.

well for some reason the doc came in and said we gotta use staples on this one, probably quicker, but being by the knee bending down all week has been a beoch. tommorow ill clean up the needle noses and pull em, we'll see how that goes, my biggest worry is if they go in and hook like a fish hook,,,really though im preparing them by wiggling them back and forth to loosen them for tommorow

I am a big fan of pulling my own stitches but they have a cool tool that pops those staples off painlessly. If you have to cut the crowns I could see another trip to Urgent care to fix the damage. I would not remove them any earlier than advised, hate to have it open up again and start over. (sorry, sometimes the former paramedic in me spouts off). It is an impressive cut.

Nice job Eric.
I had a bunch of those staples when I busted myself up back in 2002. Also had my jaw wired shut. I don't remember the thought of removing those staples myself crossing my mind. However, I did remove the wires they had through my jaw to keep it shut. I couldn't wait two more days to go back to the oral surgeon, I had to get those wires out of my mouth! I gathered up some hemostats, wire cutters, needle nose pliers and a mirror and went to work. Six weeks with no real food and not being able to talk will drive you crazy! I still remember how good that first bite of meat tasted...
That tool they use to remove those staples is pretty slick. I would wait for that tool if I were you... right tool for the job

eric the lake was bought by the medina county parks about two years ago..they have no monies so we still have no patrol on the lake or improvements.cant complain, its better they stay away. eventually it will be a public lake when they put their own ramp dock etc in. they bought some land from a farmer to do this. chippewa landings ltd bought they old park property 2 years ago as well. they came in and cleared some stuff out.i havent seen any action over on that side of the lake, but i hear its a go still. 300 million is the projected amount of money. i know they got most of it in the obuma reinvestent act/fund. projected to have a hilton hotel -culinary school- bed and bath joint- massage/hair spot- and condos overlooking the lake..i just dont see the attraction myself. its not like its salt fork or tappan lake here. i bought my place about 6 years ago, a few years outta high school. would love to sell it all, make you a deal on house/boat/dock/golf cart!
