Can anyone reccomend a way to remove the old depth finder puck? It no longer reads depth and I want to replace it. The previous owner appears to have replaced it a few times with 3 old pucks stuck on. Also any reccomendations on which model/brand to replace it with?
Thanks

I dont have a good way to remove them, but I went with a Faria because it uses a cup that is siliconed to the hull. The transducer fits inside the cup and you fill it with antifreeze or mineral oil. I figured if it wears out or stops reading all I'll have to do is pull it up, clean it off and silicone it down again.

Maybe I need to look at the transducer on mine, the one currently installed is a Faria

If it s the same type as mine then it might be it just lost the fluid and needs to be re-sealed and refilled. I love mine, it's the only one I've ever seen that reads all the time and never does anything strange. I keep it set to read below the bottom of the rudder (the foils ride a little deeper), and I can see large rocks go by where we turn around.

Mine reads 00 most of the time and sometimes will show the depth but seems to be really far off.

check fluid level as suggested by Don. I have a uniden with the same type of puck..Had to reinstall puck after stringer rebuilt and over a month of use it lost all the oil due to a leak..and it read nothing..after resealing and adding oil again..it started to work again...
