Well this is my first year on my own with the boat. Sooooo now trying to get some info on how my dad his buddy and myself go about winterizing. Like need step by step. Well Jesssica,
I will give you my 2 cents on what I do. I might get tea bagged but it works for me every year. I also see you live in a different climate than me but man importance is to remove the water from your engine block, and manifolds and stabilize the fuel lines and carb.I am assuming you have the 351 ford in yours. I do!! You have 5 plugs: 2 on each side of the motor 2 on each manifold and one at the u joint to the impellar. Your plugs to the manifolds are underneath when they make there turn down ward towards the floor. where there attached.. Engine plugs are on each side of the engine. The other plug is up front by the impellar at the u joint. Most important, during storage time is normally 6 months need to stabilze the fuel. Fill boat up full of mid or super gas whatever you use and use stabile. Buy at Wal-Mart they also make in marine formula now. You do not want a half full or empty gas tank because condensation will set in and mess up your fuel system over time. You can run the boat for 30-45 minutes to allow the stabile to run through lube the fuel system to keep things in order. You will also need to flush your system, I am no help there one of these other broothers will chime in. Good Luck!

Not to avoid your question here but pictures and written instructions are better than any of us telling you how to do it. Take a look in the reference section under "manuals". Then go to the "lay-up" section. It will avoid statements like "by the impeller at the U joint". Thank you for the link, my boat did not come with a manual so I printed the whole thing. Eric, The Tranny is great I think did not get much time in the water this year either replaced on muffler put everything back together stuck it back in the water started her up and GUESS WHAT the other one had a huge leak in it so called white lake marina oh my gosh what a great guy I think his name was Dave he really helped me out got new muffler hoses my dad put a silicone hose from the rear of the boat connected to the muffler sooo needless to say not sure really how the boat is running oh yeah got a new propeller WOW what a difference that made AWESOME. All the troubles ive had and I still love my nautique I sure hope that next year I can enjoy the boat a little. ------------- nautiquechick |

No worries Jessica. There are plenty of us on here that don't use proper typing skills, spelling or manners sometimes. I think you know that most of the guys here have got your back just cause you stepped up to the plate when you had problems with your boat. Jessica, I noticed you are from Maryland. Where do you boat? Deep Creek or around the Bay? We mostly ski down in North Carolina, but live near Annapolis, so ski in the South River mostly. I'm actually headed down to the lake this weekend to winterize also. I just printed pages 43 through 45 of the manual. That's a great refresher. There are definitely some steps that I didn't know about. I've also been most concerned about draining the water and getting anti-freeze in to prevent damage. Also, stabilizing the fuel system. ------------- |

Hi Jessica, Sounds like you and dad are becoming quite the boating team, I hope he goes for rides too. Wish mine was around to share the experience. Winterising is probably the most important thing you will do to prevent damage. Frozen blocks are costly so take it slow and be thurough.
