Just wondering if this would work. If someone were to modifie the superdeluxe boom mount that is for sale in the ccf store, or make something similar, so that the mount for the extended pylon could rotate 90 degrees and point out the side of the boat, could you then stick your extended pylon on there and use it as a barefoot boom? It already has the cables. Seems like a way to save space and money.

It seems most extended pylons are hollow and in the 5'-6' range, and about 2.5" diameter. Booms are about 8-9' long, usually solid and are 1.5-2" diameter so you can hold onto them.

I think you would be better off just buying a boom.

A+ for effort, though.
