Riley,
I travel to Orlando on business about every other month. The Hampton, Inn on International Drive is very nice, and not very expensive. It is less than $100 per night. However, it does not have a resturant. The Pool may be a small indoor deal. I never look at them when I am on business.
International Drive does have a strip of attractions and resturants. It reminds me of the strip at Myrtle Beach, SC. They have Water Parks, Bungee Cords, Mini Golf, Rippley Believe it or not and Tee Shirt Shops. It is very near Universal Studios and is right on I-4.
You will find that all Hotels are very reasonable in the Orlando area. Several years ago I stayed at the Hilton at Down Town Disney and it had several great resturants and a great pool. It was also walking distance to Down Town Disney for more resturants and shops.
I hope this helps,
Donald

39 and windy on the way home from work at about 6:30pm. Believe me it is cold here. But warmer temps on the way by the weekend.
International Drive is a big toursist trap but it is a blast. Especially all the people you'll see.

I don't know how long you're going to be there, but we have used vacationrentals.com with great success. There are TONS of private homes for rent in that area. A couple of years ago we ended up with a less than 5 year old home, in a subdivision, with a pool, 4 bedroom, 2 bath, gameroom - with pingpong and airhockey, and extremely nice for less than $100/night. Jbear can confirm how nice it was for the $$. Unbelievable.

Dave, We're thinking February vacation which is the 3rd week of February. Normally the weather is pretty good isn;t it? 70s-80's?
I went to FLA once back in 2000 and stayed at this time share place called Hilton Grand Vacation Resort or something like that. It was close to Seaworld. Beautiful place, but they treated us like we were there to steal the towels.

Lots of great deals. But the best part of Rob and Dena renting that house was us driving up there...meeting in person a couple that I had only talked to on the site...hitting it off with them right away and becoming a small part of their family.

It was cold but slow all week until Friday when alot of guys were ns.Alot of the jobs turned out to be inside too,iw or phones, and here you are dressed for outside.People having short fuses also, don't know if it's the weather, the holidays or economy.29 is way too cold for Florida but at least you know it will get warmer way before April!

Gary, I'd love to do the river run, but it doesn't fall on a school vacation.
The plan is to have no plan, but a tour of CC with Dave and meeting JBear would be bonuses.

Another great idea..'anybody can do any job'..a cable man going inside where they got the heat blasting. I know you been places just like me where they were heating with the oven open and all the burners on. Gosh there is some things I don't miss.
