I just went to the grand opening celebration of a new Ford dealer in Brooklyn. This was grand event held in true NYC fashion. Open bar, fine food and attended by many local dignitaries, Ford execs and Miss USA and Miss Universe. Hopefully this will be a sign of things to come for the American automaker. I know they have closed a lot, its nice to see them opening a new one.

Being a Ford guy, that is good news. I like Fords, and I like the fact Fords aren't part of Government Motors. Did Charlie Rangle make an appearance?

By the way, I like your '86 Martinique. I used to have an '87 Martinique. Nice riding boats with tons of room.

Ford has positioned itself to not only survive, but also to thrive due to smart business decisions and making quality products. You definitely can't say that about the other American automakers.

was Mike Rowe there?, official spokesperson? times are a changing....to bad we didnt buy 10000 shares when they were at a buck fifty.

if anyone is considering buying a Honda or Toyoyta, give opportunity a chance and go test drive a fusion, Taurus or even an Escort....decide for yourself.
just as an example, we have 2 very similar hits at our shop on a focas and a Civic...the focus needs about 4k in parts and the civic needs about 6k in parts, the front structure is designed to crush but.........the ABS module on the Civic is 700 beans and its right out front

Even though I am a Ford guy, I have to say, I REALLY like the new Dodge Challenger. That is one sexy car.

I read in USA today that there is STRONG demand to also bring back the Cuda. They would have to call it a Chrysler Cuda or Dodge Cuda since Plymouth is no more. I agree...Bring back the Cuda!!!

Every vehicle I buy will be a Ford I think. I'm really happy with the one's I've owned and love one's friends and family have owned.

You didn't buy this car in Cleveland area did you? I work with a guy that recently sold his black '68 Camaro on ebay. Great looking car.

Man that camaro is nice!

I'm contemplating doing an old truck rebuild with my boys for their first car. My wife doesn't like the idea and would rather they have something newer with more safety features. Maybe we'll just do both. I don't know.

I'm really impressed with the recent Ford engineering and products. They are doing some good things.

I have to agree on the Challenger comment...that is definitely one good looking design. They did a great job of blending yesterday and today.

Sales of the challenger would have to really go up before the cuda would be reincarnated. Is there really a need for a struggling chrysler group to have another 2 door car basically the same car as the challenger in their line up?

I'd love to see it, but now that Fiat owns Chrysler, and the fact that they have to make smart moves in the industry, I really doubt a new cuda is anywhere more than a pipe dream for a couple people at Chrysler.   The main thing that would help the cuda to come back is that they can simply rebody a challenger and not have to design a whole new car. That issue is what is probably holding the cuda back though, again due to sales of that type of car.

Tom,
I’m impressed that you have the time, equipment, knowledge and mechanical skills to do complete comprehensive testing on all the cars/manufacturers. You’re evaluations will certainly be considered on my next purchase of a truck or car. My subscription to Consumer Reports is ending next month and I will not be renewing it. Evidently they do not know what they are doing and reporting false information. Keep your comments coming.

Pete, do you think there are any bias opinions in that rag you read every month to steer your purchases? like anything else I just imagine envelopes being exchanged and handshakes in the back room.

you have yet to hear me gradify my favorite product, bow tie, so there must be some truth in my postings about the Fords

I definitely WANT to buy American. From my perspective, I assume the quality is all relatively world class these days. So, the differentiator is brand loyalty, styling, options, color, etc.

HOWEVER, the whole GM (Government Motors) thing bugs me. I would give the nod to Ford for that alone. Until GM, and Chrysler for that matter, stands on their own, and the government quits subsidizing them, I would have to stay with Ford.

That being said, I still think that Dodge Challenger is one bad-#@@ ride Can't wait for the Cuda AAR with dual exhaust pipes protruding out from in front of the back wheels.......
