Let us not forget how the Christians hijacked Saturnalia and managed to turn it into Jesus' birthday. This was nothing more than an effort to convert all the pagans to Christianity. Figured some of you may want to know the truth but I digress, Happy holidays!

Yes! Merry CHRISTmas to all Ya'll and the Happiest of New Years to the best group of Boat Buddies on the Planet.

Safe travels to those who are doing so and to those who are lucky enough to ski on Christmas Day; may Santa bring you guys the smoothest glass he can muster up. Many thanks for the old and the new friendships that have been made here. 2010 has been the greatest CCFan year for me and I am very excited to see what 2011 has in store.

We are given a paid day off as a "Holiday" at my company. Of course I take it off. It is a global company and no where in our policies does it say that only believers in Christ can take the day off. There were festivals and celebrations at the time of the winter solstice long before there was a Christian church. While I don't usually say Christmas, I don't really have a problem with the word. But, I think it is oneself duty to know the true history behind it. Most Christians don't know the history of Christmas because it's not taught in the Christian schools. Most also don't realize the reasons behind picking the 25th of December as Jesus' birthday. The poor sheeple just follow along...

Thanks for sharing, Phil...Merry Christmas to you too!

I know several Christians like myself that do know the truth of the origins and the fact that Jesus wasn't actually born on the 25th of Decemeber. I understand why it was picked and I don't necessarily disagree with the intent. To me, that is in the past and isn't very meaningful. Also, I'm not going to promote trying to change the date in light of that information. My family and I celebrate Christmas on the date that was established and we do consider it a time to remember Christ's birth and the meaning behind it without concern for whether the date is right or not.

Speaking of origins, true meanings, etc., does anyone know where the term "xmas" came from and what it means?

Merry Christmas everyone from Amy and I; and thanks again Keith!

We're about to get our first white Christmas in over a century. It's not only kinda cool, but it also means there isn't any bread and milk left anywhere on the shelves. My theory is everyone in the south makes french toast when it snows.
