I'm finally thinking about doing some more work on my 82. Next step is to finish the bilge venting.

The vents that come through the deck measure 3" OD. I've not had any luck finding any PVC with a 3" OD. I framed it in with some pipe that is is 3 1/8 OD but I'm not liking it. Most of the more rigid pipe has an OD of 3 1/4.

Anyone have any luck finding PVC with an outside diameter of 3" and if so, where?

Brian, I used PVC electrical conduit. It's the gray stuff at the big boxes and comes in just under 3". From there, I added 2 pieces of 4" shrink boot to make up the slack.

Some of our engineers may have a better solution since then, but it worked well. I used the dryer hose for above floor connections; only HD under the floor.

Brian,
I noticed Greg didn't mention the conduit size he used. It's 2&1/2" which has a OD of 2.88" of course you would have found that out when you got to the store with the tape measure!!

BKH, I used 2.5" PVC (the OD is 2-7/8" just like the conduit). I couldnt find it locally, so I ordered it from Mcmaster. We actually used the flexible stuff for the most part- which really made the install much easier. The part number for that is 5293K43. We did use some of the hard walled stuff too- the 5' length part number is 48925K99. They sell 10' lengths too, but shipping is pretty pricey. Get more fittings (45, 90) than you think you'll need... theyre cheap!

got it guys. Thanks. I was foolishly trying to find something right on the money. I'll need to work with something in a smaller diameter, and build it as Greg did so that it will match up the vent hose above floor. BKH

I used RV sewer hose for my bilge venting. Similar to the original but a lot tougher.
