Sounds good but waaaayyyy too early for me to plan anything. I would think April would be the earliest we could be ready to hit the water this year. We'll have to check and see when they open the warm side.

Mike, I'll offer to bring the two vehicle. Just picked up an 06 Durango Limited with plenty of space for the guys and I'm sure the Hemi would love to tow the Sport!

....Although, my rule of thumb has always been if it's your boat behind the truck, you drive!

Looks like it's right at 4 hours. If you could meet us in Davenport that would probably work best.

We'll have to see what everyone decides on for a date and go from there. If everyone decides to go after the 18th I would be in. I'm booked from the 9th-18th and chances for the weekend before are slim.

Mid May is fine for us, thats our home lake so we'll probably be there anyway so you guys work out a weekend and lets get it started. I'll see Todd next weekend and we'll figure out the best campsites and post a list so you can get them booked.

The only thing I miss about the north is the friends we made at Clinton lake. Todd is right warm side opens April 1. We cant make plans that far away from home yet but you never know. Its supposed to be 60-65 into next week. We are thinking about trying out the new dry suits Wed-Thurs. Both boats are stored inside and heated only winterizing needed is stable in the tank. We check Chicago weather every day and cant believe our luck in getting out just in time. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again soon.

Mike, yeah, you suck. I am down in Atlanta right now and the weather is GREAT compared to home! I washed our uncles car in the driveway yesterday in short sleves! Wish this temp was in Illinois and the boat was ready to go! You are really spoiled down here. You better get out SOON!

Hopefully you and Gail can get back up north. We need to keep working with gail on that slalom ski. Maybe she can teach me how to deep water barefoot!! Deal?

Take care

OK, so I vote for the Spring gathering to be
MAY 13-15, 2011.......

Todd/Alan, just let us know the block of camp sites to look at.....

OK, we have normally locked in sites A40-A50. Last summer we did some camping in A14 and A15 (and across the street) just for a change of scenery and it worked out nice. There are great sites in that same cul-de-sac. My best suggestion is to lock in your campsite WHEN THE DATE IS LOCKED IN! The biggest advantage to the A40-50 is the closest location to the shower/bathrooms. At both of these locations, there is a trail that leads down to the lake so people can leave their boat in the lake and get something to eat at the campsite. I honestly could care less where we camp at, so I will pass that decision onto the boss. We will definitely get a spot, but that is my worst time of the year with work. We are 100% committed, but you guys nail the date down.

Dave threw out the 13-15th....sounds good to my family!

Sounds like we just lock in the 13-15th. Make plans everyone! We would really enjoy seeing new faces since this is becoming a annual thing. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The water will definitely be warm.

Just to make everyone aware, it is a public lake. If you make the effort get your "chemically inconvenienced" butts out of bed in the morning you will have good skiing. After 10-11 in the morning the lake does get a bit busy. We do a lot of swimming and hangin' out during the busy part of the day. You can ski again closer to dusk. If you don't get tired of skiing by the end of the weekend, it is your own fault!!! HaHa! I just want everyone to know that you probably won't ski all day long. This is a social gathering with great skiing if you get out in the morning!

I have the dates locked in on my calendar.

Hey Todd,

Call me crazy, but I believe I have ski'd behind your boat back in the day. I was on the ski team at Southern in the fall of 95' and our coach towed us behind a red/white nautique just like yours. Just not sure of the year. Only been pulled by a Mastercrafts till then, and that is when I knew I would want a nautique when I finally could get one. Hence, we purchased a 96' last fall. Only took 15 years to do it, but we absolutely love it, we will be heading to Clinton for sure to meet up with you guys!

Mark...when did you graduate? Was it 95 you say? I was down there 96-98. Jeff Myers was the coach/previous owner. I visited him a year later or so after graduation and offered it to me. Snagged it December 99. It has been a great boat.

Did you go to Bennets one spring break? You sure sound familiar!

Make it a point to get to Clinton! We have a great group of people in this club and always have a lot of fun!

Great talking to you!

I only made it about 1.5 semesters down there (college life), but I ski'd in the fall of 95'. I could'nt remember Jeff's name until you mentioned it. He was a good coach and one hell of a skier. He had a pretty sweet set-up living on the lake that we practiced at with the full course and jump, then that little half course down by his house. We will definetly be heading to Clinton. We do most of our boating there, from our house in Pontiac, we can be in the water in 1.25hrs. Look forward to meeting up with everyone and putting faces with names.

Remind me of this before we decide to throw a couple more logs on the fire at 1AM. I don't think I've ever woken up without some ah, side effects at Clinton. That would be a nice change of pace.

Are those the square tent/pavilion things? I've decided that those are a must-have for any future camping trip- 100sq ft of dry ground in case it rains! Who tends to have the best deals on those?

Yep, those are the very ones... A must have for sure !!! They are available for $50 bucks on up... I think there are several types, grades... I think we all should bring one and make sure we have enough cover... Spring/Fall always seems like there's a chance, if not a more than good chance you're going to get wet...

OK gang...IT'S ON! After talking with Alan, we think it is best that we stick to the usual area of A40-A50. We know the area and think it is going to be the best for a social activity. If people get online early and book their sites, we usually have the whole cul-de-sac to ourselves. Great time for the CCF family! I got my site (A48) reserved and I think Alan got his too (A44).

I honestly don't think that it would be necessary to book another site just for a few pop up tents. I would suggest having a few with us just in case of rain or too much sun. I will have my camper awning out and will probably have a pop up too. Alan has a large awning on the Bounder too. There should be plenty of protection if we have a few pop-ups on hand. Lets save the sites for guests. I know our site is huge so if we need to make large protected area with total tree/tent coverage, we can do it. Those are just my thoughts. Do what you wish.

Thanks for getting the ball rollin' Dave! Now I just have to get my damn boat ready!

Sounds good on the awnings !!! Makes sense....

Anyone who doesn't camp, there is a hotel we've stayed at about 20 minutes away. Holiday inn express I believe... Camper rentals are available for for an arm, leg and left nut

No you don't need a reservation, that campground hasn't filed up for over 2 years but we typically book the entire A40-50 loop that way we can all hang around together when we're not on the water. I would book a site to be sure you're included, I believe you can cancel a reservation up to 7 days before the date so if your not sure book it and see what happens. It is surely worth being near the group in the evenings as have some pretty good times around the fire.

Marathon? We'll drop her off 26 miles away from clinton. Sound good?

Its a roll of the dice for us. We've got 2 boat motors apart as we speak. If the Ski Tique is done I may try and make the Muscatine Boat Show that weekend as I've been trying to go for 3 years. If not and the SNOB is done we'll be taking that to Clinton for the weekend.

Either way, looks like a win/win as long as I can get everything together the week before as we have a show the 9th-12th.

Chris, lets get real... Sit at a boat show with all the blue hairs, or come on down to ski and drink beers with your buds in a "lake hot tub" ????? Doesn't sound like a choice.. Hook up the 96', drag a tent with ya and come on out. Gauranteed way better time than option 1...

Man, with the 80 degrees that is supposed to hit the area this weekend, the bug to hit the water will certainly be out of hybernation.....

It would be a good idea to book some space in the A loop. There are plenty of spots, but as it gets warmer, you never know. Just do the anit-rain dance and we'll have an awesome time...

Kevin, are you coming down??? Let me know, we've got plenty of room on the boats if you just want to take a cruise down...

Mark, you don't need to make reservations if you decide to camp, as there will be plenty of sites available, especially in mid-May. However, "A" loop is one of the more popular areas and if you want a site close to other CCFans, reservations are advisable.

Can't miss us depending on what time of day it is, we're either out playing on somewhat flat things attached to our feet, skimming across the water, or soaking our bones in the hot water with a frosty beverage in our hands by mid afternoon !!!

Purchased our 12X12 http://www.d*ckssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3995940&cp=4406646.4413993.4418095 - easy-up canopy (the forum software puts a * in place of the "i" in the url) despite the hilariously bad reviews. I like the one guy who answered "landfill material" for "best use". I figure they are probably all pretty crappy so what the hell. We'll see how it goes.

Well Dana and I finally made it to the campground around 10pm saturday night after trying to wait out those crazy 35 mph wind gusts. Wind wouldn't subside so we said the heck with it. White knuckling the bounder is one of my favorite past times LOL.

Met up with Todd Sunday am and put the final tuneup touches on his timing chain and protec upgrade. That boat is running real nice and ready to go now. Water temp on the warm side was not in the 80's yet but was "NO WETSUIT" warm. Although we didn't have time to get any skiing in it sure was a tease for a few weeks from now.

Campground was bare with just a few fishermen campers, I was very surprised not to see a single person skiing/wakeboarding. It was windy but there was decent water along a few shorelines.

ha, I understand the "theory" part of it, in theory we shouldn't even be going but we need a break. I can't ski for another 2 weeks but I sure do need a camp cooked meal and a beer(or 2,etc)

Have a great time guys Gail and I will be there in spirit. We went to the White Lake mini and spent almost 400 in gas for the weekend. It would be more than twice that to go to IL. Maybe next year but I doubt I would bring the boat unless gas comes down. Clinton is still one of my favorites.

we backed out of the camping for the weekend   kid has a soccer game Fri. night as well as Sat. afternoon   that combined with the weather forecast, it didn't look too promising for us    depending on conditions Sun. we may come down for the day

A-46 is now open if someone wants to grab it

Hopefully we'll see you Sunday Tim otherwise we'll catch you next time.

If any other tent campers need to back out just let us know (Joel, Rob, Kurt, others). At this point we're coming down rain or shine unless everyone else stays home. I think it's rained for at least one day every time we go to Clinton so we'll survive.

We're going to try to get down as early as possible so we can get some shelter up, Bounder canopy and a 10x10 popup. You all know you can warm up/or dry off in the bounder if needed. Remember, the sites have power so bring a small cube heater to dry clothes if you do get wet. Heck, if it rains and keeps us off the water we'll drive into Clinton and go bowling or something until it clears.
