Historical rivalry taking place this afternoon. The Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears to determine who will take it to the Championship! Lets get some trash talking going on. I know all you Chicago boys are gonna be crying in your beers tonight!
My grandfather http://johnsymank.com - John Symank played 6 seasons for the Packers from 1957 to 1962. They won back to back Championships under Vince Lombardi.
Here is a cool http://www.fanbase.com/photo/69518 - pic of gramps punching Ditka right in his fat face!
Harassing the bears some more

Oh yeah the Pack is gonna take the cake! I will be happy to see the franchise move forward and officially end all of the Favre drama. He was great but we proved this season that we have what it takes to go the distance.
Now we've got your number Ben Rothlesstoucher!! (Thanks Eric that is funny as hell!)

Today on the news they are reporting a south Chicago auto dealer fired a car salesman Monday for wearing his Packers tie to work. Probably will end in court some day but still pretty funny. Bear fans take this stuff seriously. Don't be rubbing no salt in those wounds. I guess he will have to go to Green Bay for a job.

Irony-- Huh!
The "Terrible Towel ," furiously waved each weekend at Heinz Field by fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, comes from a company in Wisconsin -- roughly 110 miles southwest of Green Bay.
That makes Super Bowl XLV a dream match-up for Gregg McArthur, president of McArthur Towel & Sports in Baraboo, Wisc

I heard he got a job at another dealership already. I do see a lawsuit coming though. To make the matter worse, the guys grandma (or was it mom) was a GB Packer fan, and she DIED 2 days before the NFC championship hence why he wore the packer tie. Firing someone 2 days after their grandma (or mom)died is very low. In fact that guy should have been on bereavement leave.
Bears fans are tough, they will come back next year all riled up with something to prove. They can handle the digs.
BTW, as soon as I saw Cantler's leg making a "hitch" while trying to ride the bike on the sidelines, I said it looked like he sprained an MCL. I guess I was right. Unfortunately I know all to much about ACL, MCL problems.

So why do you think big ben will have a good day against the Packers excellent DB's? I have a feeling big ben will be limping worse than in the AFC championship and eating a lot of dirt in the SB.
GB's running attack may need some fine tuning against the steelers D, but Aaron has faced teams with run shutdown D before and still picked apart the D. A perfect pass beats perfect coverage every time, and Steelers DB's leave a lot to be desired and are no match for Jennings, Driver, Nelson and Jones.
If the beat up O line for the steelers can keep the pressure off of Ben, maybe just maybe they have a shot.
Stopping Mendenhall will be a key point for GB to win. I sure hope the Packers do win. Pitt already has a couple SB wins in recent years, GB deserves it way more.

It sure was nice of Dallas to build the Steelers a new stadium to play the Superbowl in.
Even though the Steelers carry a future Hall of Famer, UGA grad and local boy Hines Ward, I'm going with the Cheeseheads in this one.I'm tired of seeing the Steelers in and really wanted the Jets to make it.
You couldn't ask for a better QB match up in the two that we've got. No doubt that those guys will be slinging that thing.
Go Packers!

Kee, them boys in those days went out to play a game, it was called football, head to head, those guys chewed on leather and banged ugly fat chicks just to say they did...
they played with their heart and not their pocket book...but, nothing like seeing a good hit nnowadays and the guy not getting up, dont go there cause you know you watch Nascar for the wrecks...or in the hopes for a wreck

Now thats what I'm talking about! Let the trash talking fly!
Cool story bout gramps. With the help of his future father-in-law, Richard A. Bowers, who recognized Johnnie’s potential, Symank received a scholarship to Arlington State Junior College (now the University of Texas at Arlington. As the story goes Bowers had to break out all the stops to get him the scholarship and the coach was pretty sure he had screwed up. On the first day of practice gramps was running to get under a catch and ran straight into a brick wall and was knocked out cold. Now coach is really thinking he screwed up till gramps showed up for afternoon practice the same day. That is how they played. None of this take 2 weeks off for a headache!
Perhaps Vince Lombardi described John Symank best in his 1963 book Run To Daylight. “ …There is no actor in Symank. He is serious and intense, and in a game he would just as soon break your leg as not. He has made it in this league because he gets a great deal more out of himself than his ability and size justify, and I wish I could say that about all the rest of them. Many of them will rise for one game or two, but John gets the maximum out of himself in every game, and if I had thirty-five others like him I would have a far better team than I have.”
Now thats an accolade!
Steelers I dont know what you think that tin foil curtain is going to stop! Your going down!!!

That story got quite a bit of press locally and appears to be mostly the media blowing more smoke out their backside, one article I read said:
The dealer in question is a very active sponsor/official dealer of the Chicago Bears so wearing any attire promoting otherwise would be going against the dealers entire (costly) ad campaign. The individual in question was asked to change or remove his tie and refused, subsequently he was asked to leave. Should any lawsuits be filed as a result it Sounds like frivolous litigation to me.
Any self respecting Chicago Fan will be jumping on Ben's Bandwagon, or the back of his bike if you want to live dangerously!!

Lovie himself said to Mike McCarthy after the game that he wants the Packers to win.
So, who's up for firing Lovie Smith next year. LOL
I guarantee the majority of the bears players want the packers to win. While the two teams hate each other on the field, they respect each other to the highest degree.
I think GB and CHi fans have more animosity towards each other than the players do.

Cool pic Marty. I wish I could pump it up but the intake rubber is dry rotted. Not really sure what to do about it. I just inherited it last year and have been nervous to do anything to it.
Its funny you say lets play a game with it. There was another one I used to actually play with when I was a kid. Little did we know that in mint condition these balls have fetched $75k at auction.

I have Gordie Howe's hockey stick, signed by the 1953-54 Red Wings team (with the Production Line) , hanging in my office. My mom got it when she was in her late teens. We used to play with the stick in the basement, not knowing that we were really screwing up something very valuable.

You guys not living in WI can't even imagine how pumped the whole state is about our super bowl victory. It's surreal really.

Keegan: Very cool football!!
Congrats' to all the Packer fans...great game and one of the best from a viewers standpoint. We beleaguered sports fans here in northeast Ohio take comfort in Clay Matthews' kid playing a great game along with the supporting help of two ex-Buckeyes....Ryan Pickett and Matt Wilhelm. Matt was actually the Offensive player of the year here in Lorain County during his senior year, while a teammate of my sons here at Avon Lake was the defensive player of the year.

Bill's right..seeing Clay Matthews kid is about as close to the Super Bowl as us Browns season ticket holders (ex) / fans are likely to get.
Refresh my memory Bill as to the Shoreman player..great times huh? Nothing better. High school football in Northeastern Ohio.

I bet! My grandmother always talks about how bad the Packers were the first 2 seasons gramps played there 57 and 58. They used to have to hide in the locker room till all the fans left so they did not get ridiculed by angry fans. Of course after the 61 Championship they would get mobbed by adoring fans and were able to go out on the town after the games. My mom's life got better in school too. All the kids went from blaming her for a ***************e team to wanting to be her best friend.

sometimes you get the peanuts, sometimes you get the shells.
Are you passing the football on to your children?

If they earn it LOL! I guess it will come down to who has an interest and won't sell it. My great uncle gave it to me instead of his son because I already have a pretty nice collection of memorabilia and he knew it would mean more to me.
The back story on the ball is that gramp's grew up without a father. My grandmother's dad took him under his wing in jr high when he got into school sports. Great gramps was pretty connected in the community and helped gramps get a full scholarship to college. The ball was a token of appreciation for all that he did for him. Of course great gramps was very proud of his now son in law and World Champion. They actually designated a John Symank day in Caldwell, TX after he won the second.

That would be #79 Jason Eisley...got a full ride to Purdue where they switched him over to the "O" line. Never did much in college...my memory seems to recall he hurt his shoulder and never bounced back. Great years!
