Somebody loves you. Where the heck did you find one of those? I went for a spare last week and everyone was out. Matter of fact the guy at Home Depot said they got 150 the night before and they were already gone (this was at 11:00 am the next day). I guess people were prepaying for them to make sure they got one. Luckily, I had one and was only looking for a spare....

after posting that last comment, it occured to me that "rape" is such an ugly word. i prefer to call it "suprise sex".

John, a snow rake is a backerds shovel on a long handle (maybe 12 feet) used from the ground to pull snow off the lower edge of a roof to prevent ice dams. What is an ice dam you ask. Heat from the house warms the attic space melting snow, as it gets down to the space over the eves, the heating is minimal so it refreezes causing ice dams. The ice can back up under the shingles leading to leaks. The best prevention is proper insulation to reduce the heat and good ventilation to carry any heat out of the space, we also now use a product called ice and water shield under shingles instead of tar paper over the eves (Code here is three feet higher than where the exterior wall would be under the roof) It sticks to the roof and is "self healing" There are actual ice dam removal businesses up here that come out and steam them away at about a grand per visit. I have found the best cure is spring.

Mike | To make a short story long. We dropped my daughter off for art lesson in CT (actually two towns over) and my boy and I were killing time in various stores like TSC, and we strolled into an Aubuchons hardware and a guy was buying one. The clerk asked if I wanted mine assembled and I said "that's not necessary, it's a gift"
TSC didn't even have a shovel in stock, Aubuchons was full, and there prices weren't in the pork you storm jack up catagory.
The Home Depots around here has a guy making them out of wood and pipe, crude and heavy but he sold them all.
