Heck, if they can squeeze that much hp out of a V8, I guess I can scrap my plans to stuff a http://www.ilmor.com/en/marine/performance/MV10-725.aspx - V10 under the motorbox!

interesting... wonder what the foundation (block) is? Also intereting that they are using a Motorola PCM10 controller, which I thought we got out of that business (both semi-conductor - spin off, and automotive - sold to continental) Who know...

Clean-sheet, in-house, Mercury racing design, 552 cu in., 4 valve double overhead cam, twin turbo, some sort of fancy two stroke inspired cylinder scavenging (patent pending). Must work well. over 1400 lb/ft. of torque.

Pretty impressive.

very cool. Now all we need is a nice non turbo option that puts out a moderate 500-700 hp or so with the same high tech design.

its hard enough to keep 400 horsies running good, I gotta tell this story, I slapped a head back on a mercedes truck last week, took it for a test ride and it died on the freeway, well we got out of the truck and the owner tries to pop the fuel caps, they wouldnt budge, so i took a pair of channel locks and got them to turn and i started to hear a little whistle, looking on further i noticed both heavy gauge aluminum tanks were oil canned and the straps holding them were about to break....sht, i would bet there was 400lbs of air pressure in the tanks and they were ready to let loose, it took every bit of 20 minutes to let the pressure relive itself..
that was a first, but i think there are some problems with the vents???? I'll figure it out this week and post
