Snowing here in Racine, WI - thats 4 days in a row. Thankful that none of it is sticking. Oh, Racine, is 400 miles closer to the equator then the twin cities... Long winter indeed!

At least the lakes are open here, correct that "were". I just noticed the pond out back appears to have a iced back over. Will that won't take long to melt. 47 on Friday, 50's this weekend, Hollywood will be out in the dry suit for sure...

Look out the window and it would appear to be 50-60 degrees... not so. I did drain my block and gassed it up in the snow on Friday night, preparing for teen lows over the weekend.

One of our guys participated on our Monday morning conference call from Florida where he is on spring break with his family. He said it was raining down there. We felt bad for him.
Yup.....Sunny and 22 degrees in Chicago!!
It has always been my goal to be in the water and skiing by the end of April....with a drysuit. The ski club starts up around April 15th. It can be miserable cold even with a drysuit. I am getting to be a weany in my old age. Heck, I would settle for mid May now!

In 1999, I had my dock, lift and boat in the second week of March. We were swimming with the kids in shorts the first week of April.....
We are in a frozen hell here in MN.

Not getting near as bad of weather down here in Iowa. Got 3 hours on the SNOB already this year. Took these pictures last week at the farm. I just moved in about a month ago and have been itching to get some work done outside...
Nice 65 degree day so I was pumped to get out and work in the lawn, green grass and all the leaves cleaned up. Also cleaned up the house and prepped for the first round of paint. I'm going with a green base, a little lighter than Reidp's Olive Oil 70, with a white trim and leaving the wood accents in the peaks. Was going to get up early and go get some primer the next morning before work....
Woke up the next day, Snow and 25 degrees.

We have had nearly a week of 50's, most of the snow left but this is a shot of lake calhoun just south of down town Minneapolis. Still a ways to go.
I did get under the cover and charge the battery yesterday.

You only confirm my choice to move south after 30 years in the north. So far we have been out 12 times since Feb. Started with drysuits then wetsuits and as of last Thurs swimsuit. Water temp is 68-70 on lake Lanier and picks up about 1 degree a day. We plan to learn to wake board even if it kills us I sure hope it gets easier.

I've been out one year shortly after ice out in a full wetsuit and kneeboarding.
Notice by the kneeboard comment that this has not happened recently. That was cold. But, yeah, I usually try to get some sort of a pull before the end of April.
I'm complaining about our current rain and about 50 degrees. It's nice to see the bulbs are coming up and we have a few daffodils already blooming, crocus are in full bloom and bushes and trees are starting to bud.
Last sunday it was 82 degrees. THAT was nice, but then to endure a week of rain and 50 is a little shocking.
Hopefully we get some 60's at least and sun soon.

See my post before about a full wetsuit. If the water is 68, we need only bathing suits, no wet suit required to go skiing.
Last Easter, my brother and sister in law came up from st petersburg FL. We had 70 some degrees record weather and they were still cold.

Still not much going on up here. My BIL swung by the lake last weekend and the cove was still iced in. Frost on the windshield this morning. Far cry from last spring..... On the upside, the bike riders are getting restless, so the motorcycle business is starting to get into full swing. Probably looking at a mid- late May splash in for the boat this year with everything i have going on. If I'm lucky.

Take a road trip to Clinton lake IL. They open the warm side on April 1.
Water temp will be in the upper 70s. Its a great early and late season lake. CorrectCraftFan is having a mini reunion there next month.

I went to the Twins game at our one year old open stadium (very cool stadium by the way) last night. It was 37 degrees and snowing for the last five innings. The next person who tries to tell me we have a problem with global warming gets a beat down.

For the love of Mary....... Memorial Day weekend and I had to pull the Mustang off the lift. Lake has gone up at least 6-8 inches since we installed the dock and battled the lifts in extremely deep water. And we are supposed to get a bunch more rain this weekend. The windshield was half an inch from hitting the canopy frame with me in the boat. Any significant wave, such as the beast my Pythonboat puts out would lift it and toss it within the lift. I will need to get a team together, move the lift closer in, and change the legs around... Water temp is fine, probably mid 60's guessing.
I moved on to the lake 13 years ago today, and have never seen the water anywhere near this high. Could be worse, and I shouldn't complain, but geez....

Feeling your pain Mike. Due to vehicle engine work the only boat trip I saw this weekend was a trip down Minnehaha creek in a nine foot kayak with my 6 year old daughter. Nearly swamped in the current from all the rain. Still had fun.

Just so everyone does not think minnesota is a frozen tundra all year round, Temp today at Mpls/StPaul Int airport 103 degrees, with humidity to boot. That has to be 125 degree temp swing from 5 months ago.How long will it last? Forever I hope.
