Anyone change rudder packing before? I just pulled mine apart because it was leaking a little more than i would like and there are 3 rows of rudder packing in the nut. Just curious if all have 3 rows or can i put back together with 1 row.

I recently replaced mine in my 95 SN. I used two rows of 1/4" and it is working great, after a lot of adjusting. I don't think one is enough. Good luck.

You want multiple rows so the ends of each layer are covered by the next layer. IE: Stagger the ends 180 from each other. Same is true with the prop shaft stuffing box.
