Will a flywheel from an automobile fit a marine motor since the rotation is opposite?

There are no differences between marine and auto. But you do have to worry about balance, early engines are different from later ones.68-80 the 302 used the 28 oz imbalance, 81 and later uses the 50 oz imbalance.Harmonic balancer, crank and flywheel must match. Why do you need one? What happened to the original one?

Gary,

To verify. If i have a '97 351W 5.8L. You are saying I have a 50oz harmonic balancer imbalance. I have been searching all over the web and have calls into various shops and cannot get a straight answer.
