On the release of his 'long form' birth certificate:
"We do not have time for this kind of silliness," Obama said. "We've got better stuff to do. I've got better stuff to do. We've got big problems to solve."

Strange that he didn't put it out there a long time ago. He ought not continue reacting to Trump, especially about his college grades. I think Trump's out to sink his ship, not run.

I agree with you Bruce. It wasnt so much thinking there is a birther issue, it was why the secret. In a related column recently there was a long list of historic documents he has not released. School records and such. Again, whats the big secret? Curious about why it suddenly surfaced and conspiracy theorists or not, I'm anxious to see the blogosphere's authentification process. It didn't take long for them to relegate Dan Rather into oblivion for passing off faked documents.

Does anyone else have a short and long form? I have my original and it fills a page. I have a state issued copy because the original is shot; it cost me about 10 minutes and $15 to get($5/copy I think), and they also take up a page. Neither state long or short form...never heard of such.

Never heard of long form or short form, but have heard of original and whatever they call what you get if you go to city hall today and get a new one. Hard to believe they would release it if it wasn't authentic as it would be too easy to prove that is wasn't. But, I got to wonder, under Race, would they really have indicated "African" back in 1961?

There is a big difference between a certificate of live birth and a birth certificate, the certificate of live birth does not have signatures of physicians and other authenticating details. I find it strange that it took over two years to release. I am trying to research the rules concerning this and eligability for the presidency. I heard some guy going on today that both your parents need to be US citizens to be a naturalised citizen yourself, which obamas father was not, but I am not realy sure what the rules are. I do wonder why the certificate was not issued untill 4 days after his birth. I would be curious as to the norm. I think obama thought this would put an end to trump, but in Trumps usual style he took lemons and made lemonade.

Rush had a good comment on Trump today.
"Trump doesn't eat crow, he eats other peoples lunches."
Whether he runs or not makes no difference, he is getting attention and a large segment of the population like what he is saying. Anyone thinking of running in 2012 would be smart to pay attention to him.

I am with some of the others there. Something to fishy for me. I dont believe it at all. America been asking for it for so long and now it appears. What took him so long? Why didnt he produce this earlier to prove his point?? Why wait?? Too many questions to be answered to believe it..
I say is full of horse manour...

Kind of disgusting, but as they say, if you owe the bank thousands, they own you, if you owe them millions, you own them. Paring debt you promised to pay is "just business".

I'd like to think those that needed the proof of his birth got it long ago. I'd be inclined to say "F U" to anyone who's business it is not.

That's how he got elected. You have to be pretty naive to believe an elected official from Chicago is not corrupt.
