I´m considering putting back the OEM shaft seal in my boat, as the one I have now is noisy IMO.

Some pictures of the codition of the seal, It only need new packing...only thing I see the output hole is little egged, due to shaft sitting low that caused wear.
Will that be a problem?

You should be ok. I've seen lots worse and they still hold the packing in.

the safety wire, its purpose it to prevent the nut to spin loose?
I have none..what kind of wire I want to use there?

That's the idea but if you go back say about pre 80, they never had the holes for the wire. I've never seen one come loose!!

See if you can find a piece of .030 or .035 MIG stainless welding wire. That's what I use but I always have a spool of it in the shop too!

just for originaly purpose I would add it..lol
I also lack the shaft safety collar..but that one is little more complicated to find here...
I remember It used to be there when I bought the boat 10 years ago..but might got lost in the multiple times the shaft was out...
