I follow Chris Parrish on Twitter. The other day he mentioned something about the 450 being a great engine etc., I guess they were testing it.

I assumed it was the new supercharged engine they were talking about in a previous thread, but it's not. That one is a 550.

It looks like the ZR450 is nearly identical to the ZR409 on the exterior. The displacement, 364 cu, is the same too.

I did notice however, that the ZR409 advertises itself as being able to run on standard octane. The ZR450 doesn't make any mention of octane, so I assume by omission, that it needs higher.

Is the 450 a re-tuned 409 essentially?

Youre correct- both the ZR (409 and 450) engines are 6.0L based. The 450 has a new cam (specific to PCM, so Im told) and retuned ECU.

And wtf would a consumer need more than 409 HP let alone 550!

PCM Proprietary... dont expect those numbers to become public knowledge anytime soon.

More hp = better... you've driven Joe's boat!

I noticed they managed to crank up the Pro-sport to 303 hp as well. They call it the HO303 now with the same displacement as before. That's pretty impressive. I wonder if they were gunning to get 305hp out of it to keep the hp and displacement the same.
