Can any experienced minds out there tell me if the expanding foam from standard home insulating products is compatible with the two part foam from us composites. I have used the two part foam to re do the interior of my 78 nautique but have run short and was hoping that the smaller voids that I have left would be able to be filled with the home stuff. It sure seems like a very similar product. If it can be used, can epoxy be used over top like you would with the us composites products.
I have just completed a stringer re-build and am now in the process of foam and floor and was also trying to figure out how much epoxy I would need to glass the whole floor. How many coats? I have a gallon and a half of resin left (plus hardener) but I don't think this is enough. I was planning on ordering a pigment for the final gel coat in the bilge area so getting more resin can be ordered then.
I am up to my ears in this now (and elbows) and am hoping to get things sorted soon.

The two part foams both "pour out of the cans" and the inject-able/spray-able out of pressurized containers are the same polyurethane make up. They are catylized for a exothermic cure. The small aerosol cans of "great stuff" is a single component moisture cure poly. I'd stay away from it.

Thanks for the super fast response I wish shipping was that fast. I suppose my best course of action is to take the weekend off the actual boat and maybe work on seats..... Then when I get more two part foam use it to fill those small voids rather than use the spray can stuff. The low expansion foam I have used before (on my house) says it is a closed cell foam and can be painted etc. , do you still suggest staying clear. Are there any spray foam in a can brands that might be sufficient. I'm not trying to be slack, just covering my bases in case the next cans of two part foam isn't quite enough to take care of the small voids. I have used the equivalent of two 8 square foot packages of two part foam (16 square feet of foam total) and I was wondering if this seems standard. I had a hard time working out the square footage of the boat's voids and haven't seen any threads that could shed light on the subject.
Last thing any advice as to how many layers of glass on the floor, I was thinking three with extra love where the floor meets the hull. Thanks in advance, this site has been invaluable throughout this process and I don't think I would have tackled it with out this resource.

Handi-Foam does make some smaller package sizes of it's two component. Stick with the 2lb. density.
