Justin,
I'd just teflon tape it.

Justin, I was able to find gasoline rated teflon tape at Home Depot.

All Teflon tape will be gasoline rated. Teflon is very inert and not harmed by much of anything. Now, what you may have found at HD is gaseous rated tape (natural and propane)? I have now idea what the difference is except is yellow in color and 4 times the cost!!
Peter(123) do you know what the difference is? Do you use it?

Pete, Home Depot had regular teflon tape and the gaseous rated (natural gas and propane), but they also had gasoline rated, which is what I purchased.
The gasoline rated tape says it is suitable for gasoline, petroleum oils, propane, butane, naptha, benzene, kerosene and natural gas. It was a little more expensive, but not much. I wanted to be sure.
The bottom of my fuel filter/water seperator has a threaded brass drain plug on the bottom of the bowl. I changed the filter element (pcm type) and cleaned the bowl. Taped and re-inserted the drain plug. No leaks!
