Hi guys,

I'm close to ordering carpet from Christine's and had this same question. Here's a compilation of the responses I got in a few back-and-forth emails:
We (Christine's) don't sell the glue because of the restrictions for shipping flammables. Home Depot , Lowes, etc. sell glue for outdoor carpet which is the same as marine carpet. One of the biggest myths I see people talking about on the forums is about cleaning the floor. It does not have to be perfectly smooth. You will not feel any of the old glue through the new carpet unless it's a big blob. Believe it or not I had excellent results with 3M trim adhesive. Adjustable spray, you can do a little at a time. Variable width spray.

You may have a hard time finding the Henry's 263 at one of the home centers. Kevin, All that 3M spray adhesive is really a solvent based "contact" adhesive. It's pricey for the amount you do get out of the "rattle can". 1st pic was at least 8 months ago. What a journey I really do not think i would have got this far without all of your help. Pete, I agree on the pricey but I have sprayed both sides and just installed w/o the wait time, This was forgiving enough to move if needed and still stuck like crazy. I was in the business and kinda took an occasional demo can home. There is a piece of that codueroy looking indoor / outdoor crap on my aluminum decked dock that I put on about three summers ago. Constantly in the weather, left out in the snow, and aside for being a comfortable place for ducks to poop has stayed on great.

I am in the construction or what used to be the construction industry so I went to my local supplier, order the 20 oz 50 x 6 for 7.80 a square .
Cant remember the brand name the sample board hand an anchor on it. I want to say marineer, but not real sure. The carpet is nice easy to work with. The supply house had the transition in colors the burgundy transition matched up nice. I did not use the 50' I think a guy could easily do it with 45. I have not done the back boards still waiting on pt to dry out so I can give it a little dose of epoxy. ------------- Lakedog55 |
