I have what I think is a pleasure craft motor but don't know if it is a 302 or 351. The previous owner said it was rebuilt last year but they left off all the tags.
I can not figure how to shrink my image so I can attach it. How do we do this without lowering the quality so much it is useless? I thought maybe I had the wrong prop by CC emailed this list with prop size vs motor and I should be able to pull the Federal nibral supercup 13RH14 but can't get the motor up to speed and barely gets on a plane with only me in the boat. I cant be 100% sure, but i believe the PCM 302 engines used 3 inch exhaust risers = 3 inch exhaust hose, and the 351 used the same manifold, but used a 3.5 inch riser = 3.5 inch exhaust hose. Measuring across the top width of the riser should tell you the size if not sure on hose size. Like I said I cant be 100% sure, so someone please correct me if im wrong so I will be sure next time. Is there a horse power rating on the valve covers!My 302 has it...220. my 351 has it...240. The deck height on a 352 is 9.5" versus the 302 which is 8.2". Just measure from the center of the crank to the top deck (bottom of the head).
I would think that the boat would plane if the engine is running properly...it may not pull a skiier with too large a prop...but it should still plane.
