Hi guys, not trying to restart the great oil debate here, just looking for an opinion or two. I have been running the Valvoline VR1 racing 20w-50 oil all summer after doing a bunch of reading on here this spring. My question is, how much oil pressure is too much? Now that things have cooled off a little around here, I am running 40psi at idle and almost pegging the guage at 70+ psi when I throttle up. I'm concerned about possibly damaging a seal somewhere. Should I be thinking about running a lower viscosity oil? Seems like there isn't a 10w-30 out there with the proper amount of ZDDP. What do you guys running the VR1 typically see for oil pressure? Thanks!!

my readings are almost same as yours, after a long cruise, they get a tad lower though, 30-35 idle and 60 at cruise speed...using the same oil of course

Seals do not see the pressure.

Before you assume the gauge is correct, get a mechanical gauge T'd in at the sender. Even so, I wouldn't worry about the pressure you are seeing.
