I've found 4....2 on each side of the block and two on each manifold.

Is there a 5th one?

Try a search for winterizing. Use the advanced search and set the time parameter to any date, not the last 6 months. I know I've seen some nice pics of where all the drains are.

You'll have a drain on the hose coming off of the circulation pump and another on the tranny cooler. Most pull the hose from the cooler as the housing can be delicate. The raw water pump is another hose to pull unless you take the pump off and take it inside as some do.

let's see here....do it yourself and F up an engine if you don't know what the hell you're doing or grab ankle and pay a "pro" to do it at a marine center.

The problem I've found in all the winterizing threads I've read is that there is something different with just about all of them. Then I read my manual and it's different from what I've seen on threads. And to make it that much more interesting, there's a big fat disclaimer on the manual telling you it's not inclusive and CC's not responsible for you deciding to try and save some $ by doing this yourself.

Another problem is that I've seen too many threads on this subject. Now my head is spinning with so much conflicting thoughts and info I've read that I've freaked myself out into thinking I'm incompetent, which is true at this here juncture.

You may have a CCFan close by who'll only make you grab knee?

You didn't mention the year of your boat, but try searching for topics instead of posts. Maybe make a list of what you see and check if it's on your engine.

Also, I didn't mention the strainer.

Spence,
Relax there's not much to winterizing the motor.
You already found four of the plugs, there is a fifth plug it is in the front of the motor on the bottom of the elbow next to the water pump.
What I like to do is run a tap in the plug holes to clean the threads then put the plugs back in.
Do you have a heater, shower, dripless shaft bushing? If so don't forget to drain them.

Now the great debate!!! I like to change the oil then run the motor and circulate the anti-freeze through the motor, heater, shower. Others just pull the hose and fill the block that way, both work and both are equally affective.
Circulating the antifreeze just satisfies my anal tendencies. And I even store my boats in climate controlled storage!!

Make sure the tap you use is a 1/4-18 NPT PIPE TAP. A Pipe tap is tapered as are the drain plugs.

Yea, I figured it out. Took it to a Nautique dealer. My starter relay took a dump on me.

With time, and this website, you'll feel much more confident in doing your own engine maintenance. Turn on the radio, grab a few beers and look it over for an hour or two. You'll also save a bunch of money. Marinas and dealers aren't perfect either...
