You guys have help with all my problems( engine that is ).
My next question is why did my electric choke fry my new $40 spring ?

I bought this 1985 Nautique thinking I could run it for a year and maybe make some money!
Boy was I wrong. This engine is giving me problem after problem. Fix one go to the next.
I wish I had money for a new one!

Any help as to why my choke spring fried would be great. I took the carb off to get it rebuilt because the motor idles like crap. Thats after I found out that I put an extra quart of oil in it and ran it for a while. I thought 5 qts was the norm. I should have read the stinking manual. I'm not a mechanic but learning fast.

If you leave your key on with your engine not running your choke will fry. If you did not leave your key on and your choke fried anyway check the choke coil vent. It has a little screen that must not be plugged up. The little screen is behind a brass nut that looks like a copper tube belongs in it. When I first discovered mine I thought I was missing a copper or steel tube. They just look that way.
