NORTH EAST OHIO BEERS (NEOB)

Adam mentioned getting together for beers like the Chicago guy's do. Sounds like a great idea to me

Maybe one day next week? After 4PM, any day but Friday works for me.

I like it, but we may need a better name than NEOB, sounds creepy when you say it out loud.

I can't do better than a maybe on Wednesday, but Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday are all good.

Ok, how about NEO Beers?

Adam you are required to attend since it was your idea. Thursday looks good, we'll have to see if that works for Eric.

Watrski- Where are you from? You should fill in your profile information!

John, you'll have to let us know when you come up this way. You still make the trip up to Sandusky once and awhile don't you? ...and yes we know you are still skiing down there in Fla... with the hungry 'gators.

Ohio's not so bad, as long as you keep telling yourself you like the change of seasons.

Excellent Eric!!!

John,
The wood/trees you have down there aren't even fit to make lumber out of!! Where do you think all the construction lumber and ply comes from to build and yes, cover up your windows for a hurricane?? It comes from regions north!!

its not bad enough that my boat's getting winterized today, that picture just made my chest sink, cause I know its coming.

I'm with you jbear, I'll take 105 in the shade if I can be on the lake, cause it seems like winter in Ohio lasts 15 months.

wish I was meeting with you guys...would love to spend some of eric's money!

always would rather be warm than cold Adam. You can look for some shade or a cool drink but when you get in a cold funk in the middle of winter there is no warming up till spring. Sorry to hear about the winterizing. BTW love the shots of your boat in front of the lakefront skyline.

Go skiing. Beer will be cold all winter.

Actually, the correct answer is, invite the rest of us to go skiing! My boat's winterized, I'm like a homeless person right now...

Justin, I don't think we did either, some of us Ohio-ans just decided that the Chicago Beers guys shouldn't get to have all the off-season fun. As you can see from the thread above, we met at the Winking Lizard in Macedonia (on Rt 82), and that seemed to be a pretty central location for the 4 of us who came (Randy_in_Ohio, eric lavine, watrski, and myself).

We made plans to get together at least one more time before the holidays, all we need is for somebody to pick a date and if Macedonia is no good, a new place. He11, since it will be your first time coming, we'll even let you pick up the check!

Randy I have a original Genuine IBM XT stored in the roof of my garage. One day it will be a collectors item. Jbear may have the only in use working version of it though.

I remember when I upgraded from a dual floppy drive PC (8086) to a 10 Mb hard drive and thought how will I ever get full use out of this hard drive it just has such a enormous storage capacity.

I do not understand the trend of gourmet grilled cheese places popping up, we have several around town here. Some people are so crazy about it they get tattoos of little winged grilled cheese sammys so they can get a discount.

Never heard of lockview, but if you're trying to suggest an alternate location, I'm up for anything.

Mark, a quick search of Ebay shows those systems selling for $400 - $500 now!

... and to think, now we're working with picture files that are 10MB in size each, that we took on our cell phone - which has more computing power than a room full of IBM PC's!

I didn't even realize that grilled cheese sandwiches were becoming a craze! Personally, I prefer to have some type of dead animal on my sandwich... but, sure, I would have no problem with a different location.

Well, allow me to better clarify. It is not really like melt which I believe our cleveland friend is referring too. Its more of a bar, well it is a bar, that looks kinda like a dive, and they happen to have a basic food menu with alot of grilled cheese options on it. Im not saying they arent gourmet ish as many have options like goat cheese or carmelized onions but they serve everything with goldfish so that brings the fancy factor back down a notch.

They also have a large menu of beers, many craft and micro brews, so that is the main attraction for me. They also have a good spicy crab dip which I like. The place is quirky and definitely a conversation piece. If you are more into coors light, a normal atmosphere and a sports game on the TV, you should pass. If you are up for some different, it is different but in a good way.

I am not saying its for everyone, so, I was just throwing it out there and you can send it right back. I dont really care, I enjoy both types of places for different reasons. I am down for whatever.

Here is their website, they describe themselves as eclectic and I agree. Its a good place to people watch and make fun of them. If you are into that. Their beer list is long as your can see.

the flying dog dogtoberfest is probably my favorite beer that I've ever had, and I see it on the list, so I'm ok with trying this place out.

and you're right, Melt is the place I was talking about...its good, I suppose, but I've never been as blown away as some people.

Well we don't necessarily have to target next week, how about Thursday Nov 10th? That should be before anyone gets too wrapped up with family or holiday commitments, I would imagine.

deep frying a big pork shoulder today, maybe I'll drop a grilled cheese into the peanut oil
BTW, deep fryed chicken is the way to go for the football games, next week we'll be BBQ in a 40 lb pig in the roaster...we aint got no money but at least we eat good. Oh another favorite, is corn on the cob dipped into the hot oil for a minute or so, sprinkle with little bay seasoning and you'll never boil corn again...Randy, shuck the corn first lol, forget one important ingredient, to perform these outdoor activities 1 case of beer is required

207 S Main St ยท Akron

you know where lock 3 is? its right across the street. Or if you know the akron civic theatre and the aeros stadium it is right in between them but on the opposite side of the street. They dont have a large street presence just a small red awning. Is anyone going to wear a red carnation?

Six is good for me.

I don't wear flowers, but I'm sure Eric will be sporting a nice corsage.

just give one of us a call when you get there, or, better yet, wear a CC shirt so we can spot you!

No such thing as too many happy hours, in my opinion, so a couple of weeks is good for me.

As for tonight, I'm still planning on heading down in about 20 minutes, but won't be online much longer. Randy and Justin, if you guys want to cancel, give me a call, 44zero-552-3465. Otherwise, looks like we will be 3.
