79 Barefoot Nautique, w/ 454 PCM,,, currently has 13x14 RH..... doesn't look like enough clearance for a 14".....with the 13", i have about 3/4" to bottom of hull, maybe 1"....
Jim at SECC says it came with a 14x14....and i don't know how!
My boat seems to be turning too many RPM's, i cannot run it wide open....going past 4600!!! Does anyone have a 79 BF that will know for sure...????

Thats not noo many rpms, the super-beast 2001's run around 5400 rpms wfo.
BTW another inch in diameter is only 1/2" more in radius...

you can run that engine up to 5,000 rpm and not worry. When I talked to bill weeks about mine he said they suggest the acme 470 prop for the big block engines. I use that prop now on mine and turn 5500 when I'm by myself or 5000 rpm when loaded. With your stock engine you should run around 4600 prm with this prop.

Pitch makes MPH, you can run a prop with at least a 1/4 clearence between hull and tip of prop. The diameter controls the twist of the hull, chine walk and the hull slippage factor.
ex. Flatbottom skis run 11 or 11/2 x 15,16,17 pitch with 12-14-16-18-22-26 overdrive gears.
