I've been a CC fan for years. Now, ready to buy, I am looking at my many options of the Nautique line. Of course I grew up wanting a Ski Nautique 2001. Now with three children, a wife who skis, and wanting to take another family out with most outings, I feel the direct drives have a non-ideal seating arrangement. I would like the best possible slalom wake with a V drive, as I plan on hitting some of the many ball courses in the area. However, I do wakeboard, trick, and even kneeboard and would like the wake aspect of some of the modern wakeboard boats. My eye is currently on the Sport Nautique SV-211 Limited. Any comments? Is there a boat out there that is 23 feet offering a wake as good as the SV-211 for slalom? Thanks, Steve

Was out in a 211 a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed the layout.
I wanted to ski behind the boat because I was still not convinced that V drives can be good to ski behind. If you plan to course ski behind the boat, it will do it. However, I don't think you'll be happy with more than 2 people in the boat, and keep it to less than 1/2 tank of gas. Free skiing with 4 people and a whole lot of gear, the wake was decent for skiing at speeds of 33 and up. At speeds less than that, I did not find the wake to be particularly any better than the 210 in terms of skiing.
If you wakeboad even a little, and if you take lots of people in the boat, order the air version. There is no drawback in terms of skiing performance, you have the tower if you want to board, and you can store stuff up on the tower which is awsome.
There is not boat out there that is 23 feet long with a decent waterski wake, period. The Nautique 226 and some other big boats are ok, but none are great. 23 Feet and wide is just not an acceptable design for course and comp style skiing.

Postscript. The guy who owned the 211 I skied behind is a 30 year competition skier. He absolutely loves the 211. He runs 28 off in the course without much effort, and goes really big on the wakeboard. Yes, he gives up a little bit of skiability with the V Drive, but he gains passenger and gear space, and the boat fits very well with his current lifestyle.
