The steering cable on my 78 SN broke inside the sheeth at the helm control. I hope to push enough to grab on to from the tiller arm. Do I get just the inside metal spirial wound cable? It looks like the cable comes with a cover too. I looked on Whitelake Marine and its $149.00 Whats the best way? Any help would be great.

If you want to be sure you get the right parts call Woody at Southeast Correctcraft. Don't try to save a few dollars on this. Woody will ship you all the parts you need and they will be correct.

Yeh. I boat on a narrow winding bayou. Mine broke as I was ripping up the water around a hairpin curve. I found myself headed straight into the bank and having to hit a very hard reverse throwing me hard against the dash. I got a tow from a sailboat...!!!! (in a narrow bayou).

You are scarring your son for life!!! He will grow up addicted to CCs.

I called woody just to find out what length cable I needed. He made me aware that I also needed a tube and a couple of clamps to make it all work - I had no clue. It saved me a lot of head scratching. Woody's the man.

I pulled out a 17.5' CC cable and put in a 17' cable - it works great and I did save about $100.
