Got this little gem at the beginning of last summer and the trailer was not at the same level as the boat. Once the lift on a friends dock was repaired, I left the boat at the lake and took the trailer home for a little refurbishing. My plan was to sandblast & repaint chassis, recover bunks, LED lights, new bearings, and mounted spindle for spare hub/tire mount. Here are some pictures of my journey...
Here is how she started out.
Starting the tear down and the bunk bolts were so rusted they had to be cut out. Looks like I am making new bunks as well!
Broken down and all pieces at the sand blaster. Top of frame rail was really pitted but should hold alright.
Blasted parts preparing for some primer and paint. I am going with New Holland Blue tractor paint on a self etching primer. Note: It is difficult to hang trailer frames from the ceiling trusses.
Primer applied.
And now the paint is applied.
Big thanks to my friend, Justin, for providing a shop and giving me a bunch of pointers along the way! Here he is laying it down...
Wheels were also blasted and White Bobcat tractor paint was allied via rattle can.
Recently blasted and painted parts.
Got the trailer tires mounted and treated 2x4's cut down and shaped to my best OEM guess.
And the semi-finished project, minus the new bearings and spare mount. Will update with pics at some point.
Thanks for checking it out!

Looks great. Marty and I broke our trailers down all the way and repainted, changed bearings, bunks, and re-wired all new lights back in April. Was no small project. The original decals from Marty will be the icing on the cake.

Sent MartyMabe a PM...is that the correct marty you speak of?

Definitely worth it and I agree it was more work than one might think. The PM feature does not seem to work very well. Here is Marty's addresss

Looks really good Clark.
Hard work does pay off.
It looks like there is alot of overhang off the rear of the trailer.
Have you checked the tounge weight ?
I think that it should be about 10% of total weight.
That should be a simple check with all the work you have already done.

Clark,
Great job but the color is off. Not original white! Now, how about some more info on the Tique?

Im with Pete and really prefer the original (white) look, but youve done nice work.
I think Roger Roger is right, the bowstop looks to be really far back- Id bet you have insufficient tongue weight. If Im not mistaken, the bow eye is almost directly over the round crossmember on the trailer- it looks like yours is a good foot back.
Any chance you still have the original jack or did you toss it?

Yeah the bow stop was too far back but has been moved forward around a foo since the pictures were taken.
Thanks! And you missed the jack by 24 hours. Sorry man.

Nice thread and great work! Gotta love a nicely kept Tique!
Anyone else think the boat is actually a 79? Looks like it has the 79 bow to me.
