Hello everyone, I'm not sure if any one on this site has found an good place to get side graphics made for the "Ski Nautique" on the side of my boat, but I know the transom stickers have been found by some of you. If I do the transom in vinyl lettering though, I want the same for the side lettering. Please let me know if any of you guys have found a decent, reasonable source for vinyl graphics. I would want the entire set, port, starbord, and transom. Let me know if you know of a good place to call or check out. Thanks!

Oh yeah, if you dont know of a good place for this. I'd really like any good suggestions on how to make a good stecnicl that I can use to repaint on the graphics after the boat is finished. ------------- A boat is just a hole in the water to toss your money into. I had the graphics reproduced on my boat by a local vinyl shop. I took a pictute of the boat before we refinished itfrom 5 or 6 angles. Measured the length & height of the letters. He took the photos and info & digitized it, made the graphics in high quality vinyl in the color I wanted & installed them for $225.00. Check it out!

If you need god pics of factory lettering let me know.My boat is untouched still and he sids are awesome.The back i faded a bunch but could getr you good measurements.

| Ultra; After 6 Nautiques your graphics are still my favorite. your boat is beautiful! Chevy or Ford? Also LOVED the front window that opened like that on my '78. Execpt for those rare "bowshots", makes for lots of water in the lap....jbear |

Here is what I am going to do. There is a type of paper available at craft stores or auto paint shops that is translucent, with a low strength adhesive on one side. We are going to attempt to trace out the letters on the paper, remove paper, stick cut out letters back on to cover, use blue masking tape to mask off the rest, and roll on new paint over the old graphics. Yes, it will be time consuming, but should work out fine. Someone said on this site that the factory used Rustoleum enamel, so I guess we will use that. Should take a good day to mask off and about 10 minutes to apply the paint. You need to use thinner for the paint or an airless type sprayer or you will see brush strokes, the paint is very thick and dries pretty quick. You can only buy the paint in gallons or 5 gallon buckets at an indutrial supply house only, you cannot go to lowes, home depot or simular stores. I got mine at graingers.

Don't use masking tape, you will not get hard-edge lines. 3M makes a tape called The Edge. It gives extremly sharp edges. To do the parts that are not straight, use frisket. It's a masking material that airbrush artist use. It has a low tack back and you can see through it, and it cuts very easy with a X-acto knife. Go to dickblick.com and order a roll of frisket. If the graphics are completely gone, find a boat with decent graphics and tape a roll of tracing paper to the side of it and trace it, flip it over, trace on the back side of the lines (very carefully) then place on your boat and trace on the front and it will transfer. Be sure to cut the tracing paper even with the bottom edge of the boat so you have a reference point. I redid my '66 Mustang like this. I liked the double stripe ski tiques and nautiques had in the mid '70's. So I traced the stripes,and traced Mustang on a Mustang 17 and drew the running pony and sprayed it on my boat. ------------- Tim D |

I just did the stripes with the blue painting tape. I forgot what the paper was called, but that "frisket" is it. Im gonna get some tomorrow, and may use PETIT paint, have had good success with it before, no brush marks once it dries. I dunno. | If you are just doing the transom graphics then look at the general section and keith has posted the graphics shop that already has it designed and it is very close to original. |

| Hi - I have a Fish Nautique, and am planning on redoing the hull with Awlgrip paint, and wanted to repaint the graphics instead of vinyl. Anyone have advice on the use of this "frisket" tape? Is it solvent resistant? Produce a clean edge? With Awlgrip, there is no second chance unless you sand it off and start over... Anyone make decals for this purpose? (letters cut out, with light adhesive, for painting) Thanks! |

| I got some frisket paper, and it was just brutally hard to do the stern. I am just going to paint over it (the stern) and apply the vynil lettering. The sides, however, are in pretty good shape and I will TRY to touch them up a bit, but Im in NO rush for that. |
