On 60 minutes Barack rates HIMSELF the forth best president in US history, behind Johnson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln. that would put him ahead of Reagan (for you conservatives) and Clinton (for you liberals). There have to be a more then a few former presidents rolling over in their graves about now.

No lack of confidence in his own abilities, thats for sure. He needs to take those rose colored glasses off he wears when he looks in the mirror. The Great Uniter!!

Not that I disagree that he's definitely not the 4th best president, but the question was specific to legislative and foreign policy accomplishments, not just who was the best president. And it's really a ridiculous question to even have a POTUS answer. Come on, what's he going to say. Anything lower and people will say he's not confident enough to be our leader, anything higher and he's arrogant.

It's like asking a fighter if he thinks he can beat the other guy.

He has the skills to avoid answering the question, and you know he knew the questions before he agreed to the interview. His reply was pure narcissism. I'll admit he has some legislative accomplishments but not since he lost his super majority, and his foreign policy is anything but clear, he has alienated our allies, and not won over any foes. He started out with a world apology tour, followed Bushes timeline for Iraq, and destabilized several countries in the Arab spring without any clue as to who would end up in power. I would put him bottom four long before the top even in those categories.

Heres how a humble, but confident President would answer it:

- My team and I are doing the best we can for the country...or
- Well, we will just have to leave that to history to decide.

Not....Yep, I am the fourth right behind Lincoln, FDR, and Johnson.

Did you guys notice how 60 Minutes did not air that part of the interview on the broadcast? It was only on their website.

Barrack Obama spent is State legislative term running for US Senate. He spent his US legislative term running for President. He has spent his Presidency running for re-election. Now that's a record of accomplishment!

And, when ever he was around to take a vote in either the state Senate, or federal Senate, he always voted "present". Now that is LEADERSHIP at its finest!! Way to take a stand Barry!! He is doing the same thing now with the Keystone pipeline. Doesn't have the "guts" to take a stand.

I finally figured out where Obama should rank himself.....4th behind Carter

I found this on another forum and I think it sums up the Obama presidency. It will be hard to sugar coat his record for the history books.

Barack Obama's 32 Month Report Card
by Rich Carroll

Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where we the people are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed.

A gallon of regular gasoline the day Obama was inaugurated was $1.79 on average in the U.S. Today that price is $3.59, a 100.6% increase. The number of food stamp recipients has risen since Obama took office from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump. Long term unemployment soared 146.2% during the same 32 month period from 2,600,000 to 6,400,000. Staggering hope and change isn't it?

American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5% from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000, and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush's term to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase, and finally, our national debt is up 34.4% from 10.627 trillion to 14,278 trillion *

Keep these figures in mind as we recount the number of firsts for this presidency:

First President to refuse to show a valid birth certificate.
First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.
First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.
First President to preside over a cut to the credit rating of the United States .
First President to violate the War Powers Act.
First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico .
First President to defy a Federal Judges court order to cease implementing the Health Care Reform Law.
First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.
First President to spend a trillion dollars on shovel-ready jobs and later admit there was no such thing as shovel-ready jobs.
First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.
First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat.
First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the deportation of illegal immigrants across the U.S. , including those with criminal convictions.
First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.
First President to terminate Americas ability to put a man in space.
First President to encourage racial discrimination and intimidation at polling places.
First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.
First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.
First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly speak-out on the reasons for their rate increases.
First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state they are allowed to locate a factory.
First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN)
First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.
First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.
First President to appoint 45 Czars to replace elected officials in his office.
First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office.
First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.
First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.
First President to coddle American enemies while alienating Americas allies.
First President to publicly bow to Americas enemies while refusing to salute the U.S. Flag.
First President to go on multiple global apology tours.
First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends, paid for by the taxpayer.
First President to refuse to wear the U.S. Flag lapel pin.
First President to have 22 personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.
First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000.00 a year at taxpayer expense.
First President to repeat the Holy Qur'an tells us, and openly admit the early morning call of the Azan (Islamic call to worship) is the most beautiful sound on earth.

Remember that 32 months of Obama White House we the people have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our nation's entire history, as the Obama's plan their next extravagant vacation to the Indonesian Island nation of Bali .

Hope and change anyone ?????????

Eric here is the definition of a dictatorship and totalitarianism.

For some scholars, a dictatorship is a form of government that has the power to govern without consent of those being governed (similar to authoritarianism), while totalitarianism describes a state that regulates nearly every aspect of public and private behavior of the people. In other words, dictatorship concerns the source of the governing power (where the power comes from) and totalitarianism concerns the scope of the governing power (what is the government).

We set up the three equal branches of government to prevent this. Barrack is by-passing congress and making rulings by executive order. that is a dictatorship. We have democrats regulating our behavior such as which light bulbs we can use, how much profit a business can make, whether we can drill for our own resources, how much carbon we use...that is totalitarianism. Then we have those on the right that believe in individual rights and wish to be left alone. That is freedom.

Romney is living on dividend income. He has already paid taxes on the money he invested to get the dividends....at a MUCH higher rate. He now get's to pay taxes on the money again at a lower rate. Dividend income is only taxed at 15%. So what?? He is just abiding by the tax laws of the land. What do you think most retiree's in this country live on?

Since when is it illegal or wrong to aspire to become wealthy in this country? I read somewhere on this site today that a guy that runs a marine repair center said "profits are good".

So what if the guy has made a ton of money legally? Nobody said a word when the Kennedy's were in power (one of the richest families in the world), or when John Kerry ran for President with all his wife's catsup money. This is all just liberal demagogery.

Stop drinking the Sour Grape flavored Obama Kool-Aid!

What laws has the man broken? It's perfectly legal to have off-shore accounts.

This whole 1% vs. 99% Bull&hit is tearing the country apart. It's called class warfare, and since Obama doesn't have anything else to run on, he just figures he'll tear the country apart and pit "the have's" against "the aspiring to have's". I think its despicable! In fact, there are many income categories in this country. But, we used to all be American's. I thought Obama was going to bring us all together, at least thats what he said in 2008 as a candidate. He has done just the opposite in dividing the country. I remember the phrase...."We're not a red state, we're not a blue state, we're the United States". Well, so much for all that. That went out the window with "Hope and Change".

David thats the left wing liberals think about redustrbuting wealth crap. They dont understand what our great country is based on. Romney has done nothing wrong but make money and live the American Dream.

BTW, Obama just really fueled me when he just passed on 20,000 jobs for the pipeline. Tax revenue and state and community support. He is for sure ANTI-Jobs..

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different..again.
Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a fan of Obama?" Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican. Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me an Obama fan."

Let me take a shot since Eric wont.

Are those the ones where they punish those that are successful job creators and tell them to pay their share, while preaching class warfare entitlement to those that do nothing?

Or where they preach energy independence, but will not allow us to use our own (or our neighbors ) resources, while taking food from the poor to put in our gas tanks?

Or the ones that say it is inhumane to take the life of someone who chose to commit a gruesome crime, but call taking the life of an innocent unborn child a "choice"?

Or the ones that protect the right to choose, except for where we can smoke, what light bulb we use, where we can pray, where we can put up a nativity scene, how much carbon we can produce, when we need a helmet, what we use to make electricity....?

Or is it the ones that say business has to much influence on politics, but never mentions that the biggest political contributors are the unions who happen to support...?

Or the ones where they control the media, and uncover every woman a republican candidate ever looked at and every penny they ever invested, but only managed to ask Obama one question during his entire campaign about his good friend the convicted and unrepentant terrorist?

The ones who mandate that we buy products, and rule by proclamation?

The ones that use campaign money to hide their affairs and illegitimate kids from their terminally ill spouses?

Or the presidents that has sexual relations with an intern in the oval office, and then under oath say "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"?

The ones who have increased our debt by 6 trillion dollars in three years?

Yea I love those values.

Democrats are for the working class, which i have a feeling most of you are, if we map history the last 25 or so years the righties havnt done a damned thing except break the country and let the rich steal your money....with Bush its da da da , lets put a blackman in there and blame it on him, but not talk about what those two devils did ie: Bush, Cheney. Clinton balanced the budget, but it was because of what Reagan did..you pick and choose to suit your needs, if it was good reagan did it, if it was bad Obama did it. lotta hot air, for the life of me I cant understand why you guys let someone make 300 million and only tax him 15% and then say he shouldnt pay taxes....its in this country that taxes created the situations to let people flourish and make 300 million, the tax laws allow you to hide the money and save it and it does no good sitting in a bank account, the flow of money creates economy.
so again, democrats are for the working class, dont throw that poor man not working BS out there living off the system, fck I pay entitlements into a system that was designed to pay off when your dead.
the righties are for the rich the very rich the greedy one percenters and the middlecalss funds the rich. Christians????? look it up, and let me know what it means to be a Christian, im not a god fearing man but, i thought Christians lived by the book

Minorities support Democrats, right? What have they really, truly done for minorities in the past 50 years....other than to say they are for minorities, and continually leading them to believe things are going to get better for them.

The only thing the Dems have done for minorities is to expand the entitlement state. They (minorties) get their little bit of government cheese in return for their vote. Thats compassion!?!?

It all started with LBJ's "Great Society".

Take a drive through the projects in Chicago sometime. You can experience first hand "The Great Society".

One more time.....the road to hell is paved with good intentions!

Eric, all I hear is how unfair the tax code is.

Why was it not adjusted the first 2 years Obama was is office? He had 2 years of complete control of 2 of the 3 branches. The Democrates could have hiked the taxes on the 1% to whatever they wanted. Why did he not want to reform tax code when he was running trillion dollar deficits with the ability to change it ?

Why is it so important now... because it is now a talking point for re-election. Nothing more.

He could have corrected this like so many other things the Democrates are now complaining about... But chose not to.

OOW....Thought you were giving up the political posts? Good to see you back in here though. I always looked forward to your posts. Don't agree with you, but, always enjoyed the read/perspective.

By the way, you forgot to mention that BO has greatly expanded the Federal employee workforce by a HUGE number, submitted one budget that got laughed out of Congress, exploded our national debt, and has now weakened our ability to get away from Middle East oil and lost a chance to create tens of thousands "non government" jobs by shooting down pipeline deal with Canada. But, he will now still get the tree huggers votes.

PS: Good luck on the Walker recall. I wonder how many times they will find Mickey Mouse's signature in all those recall petitions.

* In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.
* Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.
* In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war.
* Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

Bush made bad decisions in the past. Very few deny that.

Obama is currently making bad decisions.

Which one do we need to be focused on ???

I tried to give it up but like you I do enjoy the perspective of others.
Really though, I have been so dang bored, I just couldn't resist. I can only watch the recall can for so long before it gets boring. Here is the link if you feel up to it, watch it for too long and I swear you will be drinking the hardest booze you can find.
http://mirrors.5nines.com/stream/ - recall cam
I am going to keep it pretty light hearted. Sometimes it is hard to tell someones true intent by just reading, so I might be wading in dangerous waters, but that is all I am doing wading. I have learned so dang much from this forum, I cannot stay away.

Statements like yours above is why I do post here.
1. Federal workforce is a bad thing? Ask those federal workers what they would be doing without that job. Hopefully it wouldn't be collecting an unemployment check. At least you are getting something for your tax dollars and remember that money goes right back into the economy.
2. Most things Obama submits to congress gets laughed at. Look at the deadlock we have over the most mundane issues.
3. I think you will get the precious Keystone pipeline at some point, but I must point out that the 20,000 job number is inflated, 20k comes from the GOP, and there are three other studies that estimate at the highest job count at 6,000. And even then they are mostly construction jobs which won't last long. I can link the studies if you wish.
You could get that amount of jobs with renewable energy, well lots more than 20k, if we made the products here and we actually implemented them. How is oil from outside our country better than oil from out of our country?

Lastly, have you heard Walkers comments on the recall? He wants the election now and he believes there will be enough signatures. I get a real laugh over his comments how "big union out of state money" is the driving force. He says that while he is in New York fund raising. And so far he has 5.1 million in out of state contributions.
But if anybody can screw it up, it will be the democrats.

I would have voted for Kerry if he had not picked Edwards for VP.
He did not carry NC for a reason, we knew about Edwards....

I watch what has happened in the last 3 years and do not see what was
advertised. No excuses for any party. Dems had 2 years and I do not agree with what they decided was important.

My opinion and my vote. Both are open minded.

Understandable. I have made a mistake once. I did not mean to bust your balls, but the bottom line is, however slow it is happening, the mistakes are getting fixed.

I don't think we should settle for "better than the last guy", and there are better than Obama, but they are not running.

Just like some progressives in the past stated...."for every dollar the Fed's pay in welfare/unemployment benefits, the economy recieves ~$1.80 in economic stimulus". Hey, if thats the case, why don't we just have the whole country go on welfare. The economy would boom

Federal workforce? Not that we don't need some Fed's, but, you have to ask if some of these jobs aren't just beauracratic BS jobs. I think its the later. The government is just getting too big. I think we should have a low tax rate, and adjust the govt accordingly to revenues vs. increasing revenues (taxes) to keep up with growing government.

Oil....is indeed a global commodity, but, the higher supply of a given commodity, the lower the price. We need to have more supply right here in North America. It will cut back on the emmssions from the tankers coming over from Arabia. Progressives should love that

Walker/Wisconsin.....lets call it the 15% vs the 85%. Why should the 85% (non government employees) continue to pay for 100% of the 15%'s (govt employees) healthcare, and retirment benefits? They didn't take a pay cut, or get laid of. Walker is just asking to kick in a little bit of for thier own benefits...JUST LIKE WE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR HAVE TO!! What is so awful about that??

ya know, I dont think all Republicans are the same or Democrats, i have a problem with the ones at the top, the political republicans, they cried wolf and i cant see Mitt or Newt being the answer, Bush really left a bad taste in my mouth and maybe its me that i classify all the big earners as if it were him. i dont see them out for the common good of the American person, I look at them as a group of wealthy that spit upon the middleclass and show up with a smile, to me they really dont care about the welfare of anyone except themselves, im sure there are Democrats out there that do the same...I cant understand why someone with 300 million would even want to bother with the presidency, but i can see it is an opportunity for him to become wealthier than he already is and talk under his breath at the local 18 course, these guys are in an entire different class than me and you. i really dont think at the end of the day they look at the common man as a man. alot here dont like the poor and say they feed off of the system...i really dont think its any different than the rich, its a shark tank, they run around the country putting on a smile, telling Americans what they want to hear, the wives faces full of plastic, with such a fake smile, to me its so damn hypicritcal....I just dont believe them anymore

An 89 point list leading off with two totally misleading statements. Ordering and implementing are two different things. Leaders set a vision, and then make sure it comes to reality. This is the guy who said george bushes .8 trillion dollar deficit was "unpatriotic". Barrack is asking for another trillion dollar increase in our debt limit this week. In the first 233 years of this country we incurred roughly 10 trillion dollars in debt, in Barracks first three he has racked up another 6 trillion. How much new spending has he proposed compared to what he has proposed cutting? To paint him as a fiscal conservative is just bogus, and is a testament to the lack of credibility of the source.

As it is often said....watch what BO does, and not what he says. He says lots of stuff that on the surface sound good, but, are actually useless or miniscule in scope.

Just like his new election year proclamation in which he wants to streamline/consolidate the Federal Office of Business Development. While it may reduce headcount over a long time by a couple of thousand people through attrition (no layoffs), he has actually increased the federal beauracracy by 100,000+ people since his time in office.

To those who don't pay close attention, it sounds great. But, then when you really dig into the details, you discover its as worthless as t&ts on a boar hog.   Again, not what he says....what he does.

The pipeline is another good example. He SAYS he wants to add jobs IMMEDIATELY, its his absolute top priority, and the first big chance he has to do it....he vetoes it. What he says...and what he actually does. Two different things.

Every report I look at, including the DOE report, indicates that oil imports are down due to reduced consumption as a result of the recession and improved efficiency.

Repeating this without giving credit is like the Obama comercial currently running in NC. Obama takes total credit. Not becoming to a sitting president.

Well, if you want a Bush again, you need not worry. You have three to chose from, and a spoiler. The three have about the same POLICY as Bush.

Policy, or policies, the way you write it reminds me of Nancy every time you type it. Is that why you do that?

Seriously, you have some conviction man.

The Sun came out today. Obama is President. Thank you Obama for letting the sun come out. It is supposed to rain tommorrow. We had rain when Bush was President so tommorroww I'll blame the rain on Bush.

I watched rports too, My info came from the weather report.

When you let the prices get so high and people so broke that consumption is down it is not a reason to re-elect.

I will take that over a group of politicians with there hands my wallet.

Look at Mitts tax return, he is pretty generous, or he just has to much to keep his arms around. He donated donated about 3 million last year. I think When Al Gore shared his return he had donated 250 dollars. That says something about character.

What did he have to straighten out? Regan had fixed carters economy and won the cold war, and Newt forced him to balance the budget, I think the only Clinton related thing straitened out in the oval office was in his pants(Or at least it should have been in his pants).

Barrack sure can spin the facts. In his state of his campaign speech he sited that oil imports were down and fewer illegals are crossing the border. Both are due to the crap economy, fewer people can afford to drive and the Mexicans are just as well off staying home. We probably have increased grocery sales too, thanks to all the people on food stamps .

Dave, if you focused half of the energy you spend on hating Obama, on the crap you spew here, you might actually get some traction with your arguments.
There was no disrespect meant with that statement, but yours is so misleading, and you know it. Unfortunately, skicat and some others just follow your easy explanations.

Maybe, just maybe, do you think the fact Obama has deported more illegals than ever before has something to do with the lower illegal numbers. Or that Americans are finally seeing what the illegal population does to working Americans.

With your explanation above, we should have MORE illegals here now because of the ease of getting food stamps, and the high salary this equates too in your mind. Never mind there are more whites on benefits than any other racial group.

Oil consumption is down by your statement, this could have nothing to do with Americans becoming aware of the dangers of oil, or new energy standards, or maybe even the "cash for clunker" program which got some serious crap off the roads? Even if I was broke, I'd find cash for my gas tank to drive, or to fill the boat for the weekend.

I don't know man, I could give a damn less who is in the white house, or any other place in Washington for that matter but standing behind the hate machine and not getting behind a solution might just land the obstructionists, like yourself, in a very bad political position.

Did, you donate more to charity than you paid in taxes? I bet not, because you paid a much higher tax rate than he did, and you might not belong to a radical religious group. (ok, maybe you do)   Did you donate more than Al Gore? Or are you just a pot calling the kettle black?

Romneys returns are amazing. His AGI, is $33,048. What the hell, how did he do that? I couldn't get mine that low, even when I had a regular job, and had 28K in tool write offs in a year.    Maybe you should vote for him, he is more like you and I than I thought.

His payroll tax makes me envious. .1%   Nice. He is nothing but a high stakes poker player. Pushing money around is hard work, you seem to admire, but awhile back you said I should pay more if I play poker and win. If I take a large risk, like you claim about Romney, and win, like Romney, I pay the tax as long as it isn't on the table.

His taxes sort of fly in the face of those that claim job creation by the rich. How many jobs did he create with the cash he paid very little taxes on?

EDIT; Looks like I found the answer. Hire 4 attorneys and the former IRS commissioner, and you get the low tax rate. I wonder what he paid for that.

I watched the speech also. He sounded like he was running against the incumbent. Many of the points he made were valid. What I dont get is why didn't he make this speech the day after the inauguration. The fact is he has been in charge for 3 years and 2 of them he had FULL control. What does he have to show for it? Are we better off now? I dont understand the Democratic point of view. What he says is not in line with what he does.

Michael I would have to agree. You know everytime he has made a speech, well the world is in dire straights. And he was in full control and did make some great points, but did he in the other ones. And the sad part about it is when he proposes his new polocies and tries them, socialist off course.. They DONT WORK!!! Last night I caught one word that I guranteed scared the American peps, we need more GOVERMENT!!! No we dont!!!
And BTW he is the biggest LIAR I have ever seen..

Simple answer. He had an adjenda he needed to get through and that used up the first two years. Now that it is coming election time he is interested in the needs of the people. Problem is he never learned how to play nice, and took only one side. Now no one on the other side wants to play with him and he needs both teams to play. He can blame them for not wanting to play but it is his fault. He panders too much and when it backfires he just blames someone else.

I didn't get involved here because I thought the thread was a study of military housing (barracks self assessment).
The presidents name is Barack.
In light of Romney's tax return I found it timely to repost this, originally posted months ago. It was not generosity that caused him to donate that money, he had to make those donations to keep his tax rate at 15%

You see, if you live on a small pension, such as a retirement person, your limited income can put you in a 15% tax bracket, especially if you can offset it with some deductions such as interest, medical costs, donations, whatever. Then long term capitol gains, (over one year), at least up to a point, are not taxed as income. The $350,000 level falls into this non taxable income level. This is partially why compensation in stock rather than cash is so attractive. If you have very little declared income you can reach that 15% bracket and spend your wealth as you please without federal tax. I am not a tax expert, but I am able to hire one to do my taxes. Generally, the more money you have the lower tax rate you have if you plan well.

If Romney made 20 million and payed 15% doesn't that mean he payed 3 million in taxes. Does anyone think that is not his fair share?
