Last year we had a great time despite the bad weather so lets start planning for the

2012 Salt Fork CCF Mini Reunion!

August 3rd - 5th

Salt Fork is Ohio's largest state park and has a beautiful campground with lots of nice free docking. Salt Fork also has a really nice lodge (for those that don't want to camp) with two swimming pools, restaurant, bar, and game room. They also have cabins available but these fill up really quick.

The park has 14 hiking trails, a golf course, and an abundance of wildlife. The 2,952-acre lake is beautiful and has the largest inland beach in Ohio. Located right off of I-77 in Cambridge, Ohio.

This year I promise the weather will be better and the skiing will be just as good as it was last year! This is a family friendly event so bring the whole crew.

Plan early as the campground fills up VERY quickly. The botom of the "F" Loop where we were at last year is already full and they just became available to book last week... So, This year we are going to occupy the top of the "G" Loop.

To register your campsite at http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/saltfork/tabid/785/Default.aspx - Salt Fork State Park

1. Follow the link below:
    http://www.ohio.reserveworld.com/Searchpark.aspx - Ohio State Parks On-line Reservations

2. Select Salt Fork State Park from the drop down list then Campsite

3. Fill in Search Criteria as shown (a two night stay is required on weekends.)

4. Click View Availability on Maps

5. Select your site by clicking on the map. Lets try to get together in the outlined area of the "G" Loop.

You may also call: 866-644-6727 to reserve your site
GET YOUR SITE RESERVED ASAP!

For those that don't want to camp, the lodge is also available, I recommend trying to find a room on the first level on the wing near the lake. The deer come up to the lodge in the evening. and will almost be on your back porch.

If anyone has any questions feel free to give me a call (330-704.6334)

That was some write-up Randy...well done.

I'll throw my 2 cents in, I had a blast down there last year, the water was great, and the camping was easy. Plus Chef-boy-ar-Randy's smoked meat on Saturday night was a pretty great way to wind down the day...even in the pouring rain. Highly recommend making the trip for anyone within striking distance.

For all you believers in Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Yeti... Salt Fork was featured on the Animal Planets "Finding Bigfoot" a couple weeks ago. So, you may want to work on your bigfoot calls.

Not much chatter on this in a while. I want to come down and check it out. Been a few years sense I was at the SJRR and this looks as close as anything for meeting up with a few fellow CCFans. I am hoping to get my dad and brother to join and make it a guys camping weekend. I will let you guys know soon.

Glad to see your going to make it Adam! It's going to be a great time! I'm hoping now that Spring has arrived we can get some more CCFans to get spots reserved. I checked the reservation site and it looks like they have already reserved about half of the sites in the campground. Still plenty of spots available in the "G" loop, and the lodge usually always has rooms available.

Our Winnebago will be party headquarters this year! No wet tent, and protection from those nasty bears which Paula insists are lurking in the woods!

I certainly can't make a decision this early without speaking to the boss, but this appears to be even closer to me than Nashville, albeit only about 40 miles, so I'm gonna see if i can twist Laurie's arm and take in this event as well.

Reid it would be awesome if you and laurie could make it! It would be a straight shot up I-77 for you. That weekend is Paula's birthday so bring some of that apple pie with ya!

I dont think dave is taking into consideration how far west Nashville is.

Glad to see you and Dana are going to come out! I think you'll like the lodge.

This is a great option for those who have small children and/or don't want to camp.

Kirk

There are still plenty of sites available. But don't sit on the fence too long! As you can see from the pic below, the "F" and "G" Loops are already about half booked for that weekend. Once the weather starts to get nice, it will really fill up.

My recommendation is that you book a site now and cancel it later if your plans change.

I unfortunately spoke a little to early on this one as Laurie and I will be at a family reunion that weekend. At least the reunion will be fun as it's gonna be at Lake Gaston on the NC/VA line at cuz-in-law and fellow CCFan'er JMurph's place and we'll be there with his crew of skiers and multiple CC's. You guys represent for us there in OHIO as we wish we could be there.

Welcome to CCF John!

I'm a new owner of an '84 Winnebago Elandan and also a member over at http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php?action=forum" rel="nofollow - classicwinnebagos.com I learned about the get together in Thompson after I had already set the date for this event... I wish I could attend too, I have a lot more to learn about the Winne than I do about inboard boats.

While I haven't hung with the crowd over there at CW I have attended a few CCF gatherings and I must say, it is always a great time! This crowd know how to have a good time. We've had many folks from places like Australia, Belgium, and the UK travel to Green Lake, WI just to attend reunions! Heck, two members flew into Nashville last week just to hang out for the weekend.

I'll have my 84 Elandan, and Allen(81Nautique) is a proud owner a classic Fleetwood Bounder, although he will be staying in the lodge and bringing his beautiful 2012 Sport 200. So I'm sure we can fit in some RV talk too

Besides it's going to be in August and probably hot! you may enjoy spending time on the water instead of under the AC unit!

Hope you can make it out. I can't guarantee good weather, but I can guarantee you will have a great time and meet some of the greatest people you could ever know!

The Logans (Jllogan) went to Salt Fork with us this past weekend, we had a great time and grabbed some pics.   I would have had some better ones if I would have realized that my phone camera was in "macro" mode the first part of the day

I also learned that the http://www.deerassic.com/" rel="nofollow - Deerasic Park will be having their annual "Deerasic Classic" the same weekend. This shouldn't affect us too much since most of these folks will be camping at the Deerasic Park, But Salt Fork may get some of the overflow. So if your on the fence, you better get off now and make your reservations!

The Boaters Beach:

Boat ramp at the campground

Docks at campground (taken earlier this year)

parking lot at campground beach. I think it my be cool to line the boats up down here one night and have a cookout.

Boat Ramp and docks at the Lodge

According to Matt Moneymaker, Founder and president of the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization) Salt Fork "is one of the squatchiest parts of one of the squatchiest states in America"!

I don't have any night vision Justin, but I have been working on my sasquatch call! I'm pretty sure I could lure one in!

There are a couple campsites available, but you may have to move your tent Saturday morning.

For example:

G19 is available Thursday and Friday night and G48 is available Saturday night. You would have to move your tent or RV Saturday morning... but you would still be close to everyone else...

There were also a couple different sites available in the "F" and "E" loop, same deal.

I would recommend calling the reservation line at 866-644-6727 if you want to book something like this.

Next year we will need to choose a different weekend. The Deerasic Classic event down the road from Salt Fork State Park has become a pretty big event and although they have camping on-site they seem to overflow into the Salt Fork camping. The good news is that they don't usually bring boats, so the lake should be pretty quiet

Hey Roger (Critter)---- If I get a Bimini down to Ohio- for this "Mini" are you gonna bring it to me and pick up that Spare Tire you said you wanted for your fishing boat trailer? That is if I can't make the "Mini"?

We've decided we need to back out of this trip, work issues aren't going to allow us to take an extra day or two off to travel that distance and still enjoy the weekend. Really disappointed as we were looking forward to a few days at what looks like a really nice destination.

We were down at Salt Fork last weekend and I learned that they have a new primitive camping area! These sites are available on a first come first served basis and are $16 per night. This campground is in a secluded area about a half mile from the main campground. The area has latrines and drinking water. If you want a shower, you will have to travel to the main campground.

When I drove through last weekend there was only one tent set up there. If your looking for some privacy, you should be able to find it here!

If your on the fence and thinking about coming out at the last minute, come on out! I'm sure you will find a place to pitch a tent.

Here's the plan for the weekend:

FRIDAY:
6PM - Sunset

I would like to get all the boats gathered down at the campers beach for a cookout. Either on trailers, or if your on the water already, there are places on either side of the swimmers beach where we can beach boats. (No boats are allowed in the roped off swimming area). This will be a great place to get together, see everyone's boat and enjoy the water and the sunset. I will bring the grill down and provide hamburgers and hotdogs. If you want to bring a dish or a bag of chips to share, that would be great! I will also bring the corn-hole boards down.

Sunset - ???
Campfire gathering at the Wise's campsite. Come on over to our "classic" Winebaggo with the CCFan banner hanging on it for drinks and smores around the fire.

SATURDAY:
Noon - ~2PM

Boaters Beach water gathering.
The Boaters Beach is located across from Salt Fork Marina which is north of the campground. There is a picnic area here and I'll bring the grill down for anyone who wants to use it. I can bring a volleyball net too.

6PM - ???
Dinner at our campsite.
I will have smoked pulled pork for sandwiches. lets get a sign up sheet started in another thread like they did for SJRR and see if everyone can pitch in a dish to share. If you have something that's special to your home area, bring it! If your coming from far away and can't bring anything, don't worry about it. I will have the refrigerator in the RV as well as two smaller refrigerators and a huge cooler for anyone who needs to keep things cold. We will also have the grill, microwave, oven and stove top in the RV if needed. If anyone needs anything I can help out with let me know.

SUNDAY:
This will be a "do whatever" day.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please share them! If anyone has questions or needs anything I may be able to help with please give me a call, send me a PM, or contact me via email.

If you're anywhere near the Eastern Ohio area and don't have plans for this weekend, you should really consider joining us. Anyone who wants to join in is invited regardless of boat type. If you have Master Craft, Malibu, Moomba, or any type of boat, or even no boat, we don't care, your invited, as long as your not a complete a-hole of course!

Bring the kids, bring the dogs, bring your brothers, sisters, and friends! I'm looking forward to getting together with old friends and meeting some new ones.

Just checked campsite availability and right now there are two sites available for the weekend in the "G" loop.

Me and the boys went down Sunday and Monday and it was great. Water has cooled down a little so it's not like a hot tub anymore but more like a warm bath.

Wow, be absent from the site for a couple weeks and you miss a lot. I'm not even going to try to comment on everything I missed, what's important is I'm going to pick my boat up today (I've been assured its running good as new...we'll see...) and I'm in spot G32. Looked to be the only one left when I logged in. I haven't had much time on the water this year, so I plan on spending every waking minute on the lake. Don't know what anybody else is bringing, I'll have a boom if we need one, and at least one cooler full of beer (probably more, and the drill blender will be in attendance). Have no idea who's coming with me yet, but I won't bring anybody that ain't a good time, so don't worry about that. Can't wait to see everybody, old friends and new alike!

OK Guys

Been working on getting a Bimini for the 93 from MI-nick ( Nick Augustyn ) in Ypsilanti,Michigan. Mr. Kirk Parsons- aka ...Kaptain Kirk- dochockey--has agrred to get the bimini and bring to this event.
I will be making a personal apperance with a CCFan.com Banner in hand to present to Kaptain Kirk when he hands over the bimini

I'll be riding with Roger Reavis...aka Critter in his RV- and he might be pulling the Skylark up instead of his 80 SN--which he has just finished 'painting' all the graphics back on the boat. And Man is it SWEET

So working all the details out- but maybe finally the 66 Skylark can get back North again- as it was delivered to MWCC back in 1965.From there it was in the Chicago Boat Show in 1965 where a gentleman traded his 1953 Chevrolet in and bought the boat from there.

So Hope to see some New faces and not so New faces in a couple of weeks!

well I had a cracked trum in the transmission, so that had to be rebuilt, but when I got it back suddenly I was having fuel problems...a new pump, new filter, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor later he figured out it was the pressure regulator...allegedly. I don't believe a whole lot of what this guy tells me at this point...after he said he adjusted the timing...on a gt-40!

Here are some things you don't want to forget:

-Boat registration and safety gear
-Insect repellant
-Sunscreen
-Beer coozies
-Chairs

BTW There are a couple convenience stores located right outside of the park entrance on SR-22(Cadiz Rd.) , Mr. G's and Lakeside carryout, there is also a store at the campground entrance where you check in that sells ice and firewood.

Remember, all the sites in the campground have electricity, so if you want to bring a fan to plug in to keep your tent cool or a small fridge to keep your drinks cool...

Well once again another great CCF weekend. Of course we had to get at least one day of rain but it didn't stop the diehards from skiing. It's too bad more people couldn't hang till Monday as the weather and water was just perfect.
A huge thanks to Paula, oh and Randy for all the great food and hospitality.
Thanks to Rodger and Marty for helping me get the '85 dialed in she ran great.

So here is couple of pics of the weekend.

I 2nd gun-drivers comments. Lots of good food and hanging out and just having a great time on and off the water.
Enjoyed Martys company on the long ride. He was the designated pusher should the Motorhome run out of gas when I pushed to get closer to home for the cheaper gas. $3.89 for regular is a bit high. Give me $3.35 anytime.

Already talking about next year. Thanks to all for making it a great 4 days for Cathie, Chavis and I.
