Can't bring myself to spend several hundred dollars on a pre-fab swim ladder for the dock. Plus, I'd love any opportunity to use my router again, so I'd like to build one.

We're looking at about 4.5ft of water at the end of the dock, and the lake bottom is firm sand and pebbles. I'm thinking of a slightly angled, basic ladder that stands on the lake bottom and leans against the side of the dock.

Cedar construction with rabbets for each step/tread, stainless screws. Thoughts/ideas/inspiration?

I also have a 30-year old rickety wooden ladder that I could just cut down for the job as the easy way out.

Hit some yard sales or Craigslist and find a cheap aluminum ladder
