Man, that boat brings back some good memories of my first Nautique. My '83 was the same color scheme and interior. Too bad that one looks like it has been sitting out uncovered for a while. Make sure you check the stringers out real well. Interior looks really dried up and most likely will start cracking as soon as any weight is put on it.

I wouldnt touch that one with a 10 ft pole. That one being sitting out for a long long time. Project boat if that what you want but I would guess she is in dire needs of a overhaul..

I live 15miles from this place and everything they have is junk - very bad reputation for mis-representation to get you on their 15ac boat junkyard and then scam you. I have never heard anyone have anything positive about this outfit. Caveat Emptor (sp?) is all I can say

Well, that's been confirmed from previous statements!!
BTW, "i's" get a capitalization in the normal English language. are you from a different country? Or, is SC just not tuned into proper English and spelling????

You will need the metal hinge to make that window work. It is a channel that slides on the glass and glues in place.
There also seems to be a difference in the 80 / 81 and the 82+ hinge. I know from experience.
FYI,

No actually the boat didn't come with a trailer so I bought a supra boat that was in a warehouse fire and had a trailer on eBay for 255.00.after paint and all I have 450.00 in the trailer.

@Jason,
Great project! I looked at that boat about 1-1/2 year ago but I couldn't justify the $ for what was offered (maybe with a trailer, maybe). What did you end up giving for it?
TIM
Posted By: reftech
Date Posted: March-12-2012 at 4:28pm
Tim I gave 1600.00 for the boat and I have 450.00 in a trailer that is now totally new with lights new bunks winch jack and paint so I don't think I'm hurting at this point.I took the starter today for a rebuild as it was dead shorted.the motor turns freely by hand and everything looks good visually except they had the plug wires landed wrong and the firing order screwed up.so when I get the starter back this week I will prime the oil pump and attempt to start the motor.

Check it for water in the gas tank and siphon out any old fuel.
Posted By: DrCC
Date Posted: March-12-2012 at 5:18pm
Actually, I would probably drain the Holley bowls, blow out all the fuel lines, change the filter, siphon off the fuel tank and then start with fresh 93 octane.
Posted By: reftech
Date Posted: March-12-2012 at 8:24pm
kapla the firing order it was set up for made no sense...it was 1-5-6-4-8-2-3-7.the motor is a reverse rot motor and should be 1-8-4-5-6-2-7-3. drcc that my plan i have already pulled the carb and it is soaking in cleaner i am going to rebuild it.i bought the filter today and will be draining the tank and refilling thursday or so.

Gotta love starting a new project for the first time! Good luck, be sure to take some pics/video!
This was my weekend adventure. Been sitting for 2 years or more. Fuel out of a gas can, swapped carbs, plugs/wires, some fresh oil and it ran like a top. Should be able to go for a ride with a new set of trans hoses then the rebuild begins. Got a long ways to go with this one, but it's all original and runs like a top.
EDIT- sorry for the funky video format.

Skidim has some of these engine manuals pre-printed. pete im just giving ya crap man .bri thanks for the info man i need all the help i can get, especially wiring diagrams.peter1234 i hear ya man lol! got the starter back today and hooked it up only to find after bumping the motor twice that the solenoid took a dump.i have coil voltage to the solenoid but no juice to the starter.all of this after i had removed the distributor and primed the oil pump due to the motor sitting for so long.bummer! so i got the sandpaper and buffer out and started working on the bow and dash.its great that the woodgrain on the dash is gelcoated it turned out beautifully..i promise pics later i took a few tonight but night had already fallen and they are kinda dark.

You can get a replacement solenoid here: http://www.nautiqueparts.com/solenoidstarterrelay.aspx" rel="nofollow - Solenoid
Although, make sure you have a good starting battery, or you're likely to fry another one. A lot of times people will have deep cycle batteries in there and that is no good for the starting system. Plus, clean up your wiring as much as possible.

after draining the fuel and changing the fuel filter, getting the firing order straightened out, cleaning the points and carburetor, getting the starter rebuilt and replacing the solenoid after it took a dump the motor fired up nicely and ran smooth after warming up with no knocks or pings.that was a huge relief! so now i can get the motor pulled out of this thing and start on the stringer replacement.i also cut and buffed the bow, dash, and port side top rail and it turned out better than i had anticipated thanks to all the tips i read on this site on bringing the gel coat back.thanks to all!!!
