I'm buying a boat long distance and had a buddy do a final inspection on the boat today before I go down to get it and I now have a question about what engine is actually in this 94. According to the pic below it should have the 330hp TBI pro boss in it(owner says the same thing), but my buddy swears up and down it had venturis and 2 float bowls. The problem is he didn't realize his flash washed out the engine serial # till he was home(hour away). So any of you experts wanna chime in and help me figure out if this maybe orginally had the tbi engine and someone possibly put it back to a straight carbed engine? Not that I had any doubts, but I also verified it had gt stamped in the heads.

Does he have a picture of the throttle body? The TBI looks very similar to a carb. It's not until you go to a gt40 that you get the multi port injectors

Well that # on the module is the coil p/n for the tbi version of the engine. But my buddy is relatively technically inclined so I would of thought he would of noticed the throttle body injectors. From what I hear the system either ran perfect or was a pita. If that latter the concensus seems to be to trash the pro-tec and fuel injection and go back to a carb and dizzy.

It might have been like Kieth's boat. A carbureted boat with the Protec ignition system and gt-40 heads, labeled the ProBoss I think these were 285hp in OEM form.

The later "GT-40" Pro Boss engine with multiport Fuel injection made 310 in stock form. None of them made 330 from the factory unless it was a 454 big block, which I don't think was available in that year Ski Nautique
