| Hey Everyone, I did have a 77 nautique for sale on the site but decided to keep her after my father passed. I dont know much about the restoration of boats so Im using a place in Tyler texas called ski and sports, It hasnt been there long and the guy running it is from south west CC. Anyway Im looking for a trailer mine is probably in worst shape of all time. The price I have been qouted from ski and sports 2750$ for a dorsey single axle trailer no brakes nothing special just plain jane. Is that high or am I being cheap, I dont mind paying for quality stuff but Im not sure about the price. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. |

| Is your trailer frame in decent shape? Because you can get new springs, hubs, bearings, axle spindles and tubing to build a new axle for about $200.00 or less. You can have the wheels and trailer frame sand blasted and painted for under $500.00. Replace the runners and brackets and put some new (remains) carpet and your trailer should be good as new. |

| I dont know much about building an axle, The frame of the trailer is ok. Its solid rusted but solid. I could refurbish it I think. I just dont know enough about it to feel safe doing it myself. Plus I cant get the boat off to work on the trailer. |

A trailer shop that works on flatbeds would jump all over that boat trailer and I would bet it would cost half of what the new one would cost. Yes you would have to get the boat off to get the work done. If your staying original I would keep the CC trailer. No, since I am cheap I would have it fixed.

| You can get a welding shop to build your axle and the rest, if you are the least bit handy with tools, you can do yourself. I would just use the trailer shops advice and do everything myself. You can save lots of money here. Is there a place near by you that you can rent a boat slip for a month while you're working on the trailer? |

| well you would only need the boat off of the trailer for a couple of day's, a week tops. rent a slip for a week, sand blast and paint it, replace the bunk carpet and/or the bunks if needed. The springs for the trailer most likely are good unless one of the leaves is broke but that can be fixed with the boat on the trail. And all you are going to need for the axils is new bearings and seals which you can do with the boat on the trailer as well. I fraction of the cost, 500 bucks tops even if you hire out someone doing the bearings and seals. Rent a sand blaster and a airless painter, strip the carpet off of the bunks, examine the wood bunks replace if needed, buy new bunk carpet at a local west marine/supply house or order it from someone. Hire out the bearing work or get ONE OF THE TEXAS FAN'S TO HELP YOU, STEP UP GUY'S YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE and save yourself the money. |

FYI..I have used the guys at Ski N Sports/SW CC for years. Carl and Shannon. Good guys known them for 15 years. They have worked on my 81 before and I bought and old trailer from them as well because somebody decided to steal my orginal Road Runner double axle. I got a single axle CC trailer for $1000 from them. Ask them what they would do with the trailer and how they would do it. I do that all the time with them. They could give you names of other shops,welding etc.. My 2 cents....
